offer a PaaS version of Master Data Services (MDS)
Master Data Services is vitally important for data governance and enterprise data warehousing. Microsoft has a great PaaS data warehouse offer. But for MDS, customers must deploy SQL Server Enterprise on a VM.

Besides Profisee you could look at CluedIn (https://www.cluedin.com/)

You can always utilize Common Data Service as an MDS solution. It is fully PaaS.

Profisee (where I work and a partner of Microsoft) has just released an update to our MDM platform that is PAAS via Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure SQL. For more info email me or here is the release announcement: https://profisee.com/blog/profisee-announces-new-release-2020-r1/

Agree with WB. The current alternative of installing SQL MDS on a virtual machine is really expensive. And then we have to devote time and energy to maintaining / updating that VM. I really hope there is some alternative available soon. Or maybe there is a 3rd party alternative already available, does anyone know of one?

We're deploying a DW on an Azure SQL DB. Our master data is growing more complex as we bring in additional data sources.
Now we have to choose between creating our own MDM functionality or redeploying to a VM so we can use MDS.
This request has been out here for over a year and there isn't any evidence that is is even on the product roadmap.

Any web app or excel addin for master data management on Azure SQL DW would be useful.
