Temporal Table support in AzureSQLDW
Is this on the roadmap? Currently they are not a thing in the Parallel DW:

Why wouldn't this functionality be included by default
This is one of the rational for the adoption (or not) of Synapse in our case. Do you have a roadmap for this functionality? Is it in the pipeline?

Don't do this without fixing what is broken in System Versioned tables. Namely the ability to supply the version start and end dates because these values often need to be retained from the upstream LOB systems of record! This is a long standing defect in the implementation of such.
However, if this really is going to be properly supported end to end, then you need to engage Christian and Arun and the Power BI team because we will need Type II SCD support and time travel capabilities in Power BI.

As part of an ETL process to SQL DW, temporal tables can be a great asset to track dimensional changes. I'd love to understand as well what the likelihood of having this feature in SQL DW is to advise my customer. Current workaround is to have an Azure SQL DB hosts some of the metadata and make sure things are in sync with SQL DW.
We utilize temporal tables in our Azure SQL DB instances and it provides considerable value. It would be great if Azure SQL DW would support this feature also.
