[In preview] Database project from Visual Studio to support Azure SQL Data Warehouse
Database project from Visual Studio is useful to manage DDLs, schema compare between the project and database, etc. Please create a project template dedicated for DW or support DW development from Database Project.
Download the Visual Studio 2019 preview here: https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/sql-data-warehouse/sql-data-warehouse-install-visual-studio
SSDT is now generally available!

Thank you everyone who helped provide feedback!

Currently there is no Synapse features support for Database projects in Visual Studio.I’d like to invite to integrate synapse features with Visual Studio database features .

is there documentation on minimal permissions required on Azure Synapse Analytics (SQL DW) to support SSDT schema synchronization?
We are currently in public preview having hundreds of developers using SSDT and many for their production deployments. We are also servicing our SSDT preview customers in a production-level capacity. We recently released the latest preview with Visual Studio 2019 which can be downloaded here: https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/sql-data-warehouse/sql-data-warehouse-install-visual-studio.
Please try it out and provide feedback through the SSDT feedback channel outlined in our documentation. We are looking to continuously partner with our preview customers to ensure a stable change management and deployment experience with SQL Data Warehouse. Feedback on additional capabilities are constantly and quickly addressed in preview where we are targeting end of this calendar year to make SSDT Generally Available.
Thank you all for your patience.

1 year with DWH,in my case, without tools, "hand made" mode on.
Power without control isn't useful.
Basic features not run, schema compare, generate scripts, create users, schemas, roles., many functions not run, there aren't reports ... all need programing. SQL 2K had more features at begin.
MS,Which role has a dba on this environment?
Data Tools in VS for DWH is embarrasing, sorry for my opinion.
yes, it doesn't make sense to use Azure Datawarehouse if it can't be used in Production environments. Shall we consider Azure Datawarehouse as experimental?

It is ridiculous this isn't GA yet. How do you expect people to seriously use the Azure Data Warehouse when you can't do any kind of managed deploy. DEVOPS pipelines are broken too so any ability to CI/CD around the ADW is broken. Time to look at alternatives....
Hi, is this release now 2019-08? How I can get release or previe version, is there somewhere sample project ?

Why isn't this a reality yet?? I don't want to go back in time now that I am in love with the SQL Server database project.
Does this affect the capability of deployment?

Strange that such an important feature is not available yet

So disappointed such a crucial\basic feature not available after years......
Finally we have done in-house code to do the same....
Once again thanks guys release such products........
We need to do schema comparison for Azure data warehouse, and we also need to deploy the sql scripts to different environments.
Any news on this topic

I think this will be delivered in VS 2025 .... Really disappointing. This can't be so different from a normal Azure SQL Server because the SQL Code is a stripped version, its not that these is so much bigger instruction-set.
any update? When will it be compatible with visual studio 2019?
