Support for spatial data type
Spatial data shlould be supported by SQL Data Warehouse the same way it is supported by SQL Server.

We have been waiting for this for quite some time, come on Microsoft, at least support the data types in your premier database product in your premier data transformation product...
Its asked 5 + years ago, and you said you triaged it like 1 and half year ago.
any update? its absolutely unacceptable to not have support for Spatial data in Synapse.
look at Amazon Redshift: https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/using-spatial-data-with-amazon-redshift/, its supporting that in 2019......
Get it delivered please MS.
I am completely disappointed with Synapse, these days spatial data is very popular and I would not call this modern data platform. For my current customer is useless.
We need this one too. Any indication on time frame would be greatly appreciated..
Looks like it's been almost 3 years this feature has been asked and no response yet from MS on the timeframe of when it will be coming. We are heavily relying on the Azure SQL DW and in need of this feature to do some map-based Power BI reports and don't want to go elastic query route. Please let us know when this will be coming.
Any timeframes on this yet? Don't want to go to the elastic query route just to overcome this limitation in SQL DW.

Any timeframe on this or anywhere on the radar? It is a bit of a show stopper for heavy users of spatial data.

This is imperative for using best-in-breed presentation tools.
Data Warehouse calculations on spatial data is a requirement for any modern analytics solution.
