Logic Apps

Logic Apps allow developers to design workflows that articulate intent via a trigger and series of steps, each invoking an App Service API app whilst securely taking care of authentication and best practices like durable execution.
If you have any feedback or ideas on Azure Logic Apps we’d love to hear it.

  2. Improve resubmit from an operational perspective

The resubmit feature is very powerful from a runtime perspective, but it can be improved from an operational point of view. It would be nice to have visibility on the resubmit, so that you know as an operator that specific failed workflows can be ignored, because they were resubmitted already. This can be achieved by adding an additional workflow status: Resubmitted. Another alternative solution is allowing an operator to query for failed Logic App run that were not resubmitted yet.

  4. See/use API Connections in other resource groups in the Logic App Designer

API Connections are filtered on the resource group so the available API Connections are restricted to the ones in the same resource group as the Logic App.

Jeff Hollan stated that this restriction will be lifted in a comment on an answer to the following stackoverflow question https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41079031/how-use-existing-connection-in-logic-apps-designer.

This will allow for having shared API Connections across resource groups which can reduce the number of API Connections.

See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41079031/how-use-existing-connection-in-logic-apps-designer and https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1417e1bb-c96a-4e51-b980-b5a4ade7a3a9/when-will-the-restriction-that-azure-api-connections-are-filtered-on-the-resource-group-in-the-azure?forum=azurelogicapps for more info.

  5. Add support for passing Cookie header

Although, It is possible to pass Cookie header in Logic App action. Cookie never gets sent, even though the HTTP action’s output displays the value as having been properly set. Please add Add support for passing Cookie header.

  6. Function to retrieve keys from JSON object

There are times when we need the list of keys within a JSON object returned by an API. This would be something equivalent to Object.keys() in JS. Much of the functionality in Logic Apps today assumes that you know the JSON schema ahead of time. Many times this is the case. However, in some situations the keys in a JSON object will change and we need a way to detect this.

This can probably can be accomplished by using an inline code snippet but since this requires an Integration account many customers are out of luck.

  8. Multiple start triggers

Would be great to set multiple start triggers in Logic App.
For Example: You have different Microsoft Forms, for internal and external, but they all should start the same Logic App.

At the moment you can use the "Code View" to create multiple start triggers for an Logic app, but with changing the code the "Design View" is not available anymore.

  9. visual studio code

Allow Logic Apps designer to be used from within Visual Studio Code.

This would enable Logic Apps to be used in a cross platform manner outside the browser. Ideally the JSON file / template would be generated locally and would allow it to integrate with the VSCode git integration, which could then be deployed to Azure in the same way as for VS generally.

  10. IMAP Connector

As our policy does not allow to connect to our mailbox using POP3, it would be nice to have an IMAP Connector. Should work similar to the existing POP3 Connector.

  11. Sendgrid Logic Apps Connector: Add support for custom headers in Send email action

In the quest for email notification standardization, we are looking at using sendgrid transactional templates (https://sendgrid.com/docs/User_Guide/Transactional_Templates/index.html) as the standard to send out transactional email. With the current sendgrid connector in logic apps we cannot do this. Currently I have to create an azure function per email template I want to call, to propagate the appropriate fields in the API.

The sendgrid API supports a templateid field (https://sendgrid.com/docs/APIReference/apiv3.html), to specify the template to be used, and substitutions, to substitute custom fields to variables in the email template to be sent. (https://sendgrid.com/docs/APIReference/SMTPAPI/substitutiontags.html) …

Have a Parse XML that is similar to the Data Operations - Parse JSON, so we can access the fields in the XML message the same way.

  13. Disable GetFileMetadataAsync switch on (all) file related adapers

In a LogicApp, when writing or renaming a file metadata is retreived after the action completes. This will result in a failure if the file has been processed, deleted and this no longer exists.

The issue is that this failure hides legitimate failures obsctructing and undermining the overall trust in the platform.

Imho this is a design failure in ALL file related shapes (FTP, SFTP, FileSystem, Azure Fileshare) which should be fixed immediately. Assuming having control over a written file is mistake in thought and violates architectural principles of concern as transfer of responsibility is complete after writing the file…

  14. Data Lake Analytics Connector

I have several clients using Data Lake Store and Data Lake Analytics. Right now there is no "easy" mechanism for scheduling USql jobs. Having an event in Logic Apps that just says, "Submit USql Job" would be great and I know several clients that would use it tomorrow to submit daily jobs.

  15. HL7 Support in Logic Apps

t will be very helpful if you add HL7 accelerator to Logic Apps similar to BizTalk. This is a gap where we are not able to propose Logic Apps for our client.

  16. BizTalk Flat File Encoder: Convert a given flat file instance to JSON

A very common integration scenario is that a flatfile (csv) gets uploaded to a ftp server. The file contains e.g. informations about an order which must send to a LOB-system like Salesforce. It would be nice to use a Logic App therefor, together with a FTP Connector, BizTalk Flat File Encoder and Salesforce Connector. But it is not that simple today. As far as I can see so far, we would need need a BizTalk XPath Extractor in addition. So I wish like to see a BizTalk Flat File Encoder which supports json other than just xml. I think with…

I want the ability to export my entire Logic App workflow to Visio with all the correct icons. This will be super useful for our documentation efforts and will eliminate the manual work.

  19. Salesforce Platform Event Connector

Wondering if there's a way to write a Connector in Logic Apps that will support long polling over the Bayeux protocol (CometD) to be a receiver/subscriber for Salesforce Platform Events. The current LA Salesforce connector does not mention PE's, and assuming that it is using REST apis. Here is Salesforce's doc on being a streaming client: https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.api_streaming.meta/api_streaming/using_streaming_api_client_connection.htm

  20. Add Trigger and connector for azure Postgre sql

Add Trigger and connector for azure Postgre sql.
Currently we don't have trigger for Postgre sql and when we try to add connection it ask for installation of on-prem gateway.
