Logic Apps

Logic Apps allow developers to design workflows that articulate intent via a trigger and series of steps, each invoking an App Service API app whilst securely taking care of authentication and best practices like durable execution.
If you have any feedback or ideas on Azure Logic Apps we’d love to hear it.

  2. Multiple Slots

    Like Web App and API App where you can configure multiple slots , it would be a good idea for Logic app also to have similar configuration. So when I test a dev slot for my web I would connect to the dev slot of my logic app

  3. Embeddable visual designer

    It would be great if we could embed the visual workflow designer from the portal into our own web apps to allow admin users to edit the workflow steps. Then we could post the updated JSON back to Azure Logic Apps via the REST API.

  4. Variable initialization inside a scope

    I tried to add a scope with intention of initializing all the required variables in my logic app. It turns out that we cant use the variable initialization action inside a scope.

    I would like to see ability to
    1> Define variables within a scope
    2>To be able to say if this is a local or a global variable.

    This helps in many scenarios
    1> grouping all variable initialization into single scope- logic app looks tidier
    2> We might want to define few local variables.

    Thanks
    Srini

  5. visual studio code

    Allow Logic Apps designer to be used from within Visual Studio Code.

    This would enable Logic Apps to be used in a cross platform manner outside the browser. Ideally the JSON file / template would be generated locally and would allow it to integrate with the VSCode git integration, which could then be deployed to Azure in the same way as for VS generally.

  6. Export to Visio

    I want the ability to export my entire Logic App workflow to Visio with all the correct icons. This will be super useful for our documentation efforts and will eliminate the manual work.

  8. Disable a Logic App for being updated in the Portal when linked to Source COntrol

    Are there any plans to provide a possibility to disable to edit a Logic App through the Portal? A bit like Azure Functions, when you link it to source control, you only can edit via Visual Studio.
    Offcourse only if VS tooling allows all possible functionality of the Portal Editor.

  9. include c# support to configure different connectors

    There is vast community of .Net developers who would be using Logic apps in future. The devlopers are used to Visual Studio features like intellisense, it would be great if connectors can be configured using C# language and atleast have intellisense activated, so that it becomes easier to code wherever necesaary in Logic apps.

  10. (Cloud) Recycle Bin is needed for Apps and Logic Flows

    As there is no way now to recover a deleted app or Logic Flow, a (Cloud) recycle bin is a must, same as Sway's.

  11. add an instring function

    Add an instring function so we can use better logic when calling the substring or other functions.

  12. Pick/WaitAny Action

    It would be great to be able to appy the notion of a Pick Activity (from WF 4.5) or WaitAny (.Net Task speak) within the workflow (designer or code view).

    Currently you can go parallel (code view only), but the can must wait for both. It would seem that the RunAfter would need some notion of OR (WaitAny)/AND (WaitAll):

            "Terminate": {

    "inputs": {
    "runError": {},
    "runStatus": "Failed"
    },
    "runAfter": {
    "Delay": [
    "Succeeded"
    ],
    "HTTP_Webhook": [
    "Succeeded"
    ]
    },
    "type": "Terminate"
    }

  13. Embeddable Workflow Run Status Visual

    The visual run map for a workflow run (which is pretty slick by btw) can only be accessed via the Azure Portal. It would be great if we can allow embedding the same in external web pages. The scenario is that we want the end users to see what happened during the logic app run, without having to give them perms on the Azure Portal.

  14. Validation on saving a logic app

    I have a logic app with several HTTP actions.
    As I don't want the default retry behaviour I added the section as specified on MSDN via the logic app code view (would be great have this configurable via the designer though.)

    I set the 'type' to 'None' to disable the retry policy entirely.
    The logic app could be saved without an issue, but when I ran it I got this error: "a retry policy of type 'None' must not have a retry count specified".

    As this is just a matter of validation, it would be very helpful to have this…

  16. Show performance indicators (hints) during DESIGN time

    Foreach or scope containers can show me performance (in estimated seconds) gifs or indicators while I'm in design mode. This can help to avoid costly nesting or expensive usage of workflow functions used together such as concat, json, xml, decodeBase64, etc. before wasting too much time creating a badly performing flow

  17. SOAP Exception handling and Security in Logic Apps

    Hi ,
    Currently we are working with Logic Apps for customers and what i feel is missing is JSON to JSON mapping . It would be good to have a framework build which can be used for Logic Apps and on premise Biz Talk .
    One more thing we noticed is around handling SOAP exception and security for Logic Apps . We are finding difficulty to secure the Logic apps from external request (webhook or custom API) .

    Thanks
    Abhishek

  18. Ability to set default options

    Ability to set default options

    I'd like the ability to set default options for Logic App creation. For example, I often create a series of Logic Apps in the same Resource Group back to back. It'd be nice to check a box and have all resources created in the same Resource Group until I specify that I'd like to use another RG instead.

  19. Make JSON collapsable in Code View

    for complex workflows, I want to collapse some JSON parts so I can focus on the part I need to work on... similar to what I can do in Visual Studio

  20. loop function and go to function

    I come from SharePoint world and big thing on SP 2013 workflow and above is for each loop and loop n times with go to this function based on condition. This would be very helpful ln logic apps.

    Thanks this is good feedback. Can you clarify – you mean you would want to be able to create a foreach loop, and have a set of actions that may or may not fire on each loop based on a condition (e.g. if iteration is odd, do foo, if it is even, do bar)?
