You can now deploy Logic Apps to an Integration Service Environment (https://aka.ms/integration-service-environment) which is a dedicated Logic Apps runtime that is injected into your VNET so it can communicate directly (without a gateway) to entities in the VNET and on the other end of an Express Route and VPN. If the ASE (including an ILB ISE) is in the VNET then Logic Apps running in the Integration Service Environment can communicate with it directly.

So the logic app sap connector with on prem data gateway can only consume BW or HANA, but if you have sap in the cloud you get full support. Furthermore, you can't use logic apps with ase? That feels like a gap...

we have used ILB ASE - it mostly works when trigger is web/api app deployed to ASE but natively wiht Logic Apps currently could only call services reachable via Public IP addresses. Not great when using with ExpressRoute (which we do).
