Logic Apps

Logic Apps allow developers to design workflows that articulate intent via a trigger and series of steps, each invoking an App Service API app whilst securely taking care of authentication and best practices like durable execution.
If you have any feedback or ideas on Azure Logic Apps we’d love to hear it.

  1. Add triggers to Dynamics 365 for Operations (AX7) Connector

Add to the existing connector triggers actions like 'When a Record is created', 'When a Record is updated', deleted.

  2. Add a SOAP Connector

There are too many SOAP Web Services still running today, and a lot of integration scenarios still require the use of SOAP Web Services. A SOAP Service (maybe driven by the current experience in BizTalk Server) would drive a lot of adoption to logic apps.

  3. Ability to use KeyVault in Logic Apps

It would be great to be able to access KeyVault secrets and keys within a Logic App action. This way it would be easy to provide secured authentication details while calling 3rd party services from a logic app.

  4. Designer in Visual Studio

The azure portal designer feels limited in functionality and can only handle simpler pipeline scenarios before becoming unusable.

A designer in visual studio would offer a richer design experience and not be technically constrained by html 5 and JavaScript. It would also allow much better design time validation.

I think the portal should be for simple scenarios and the VS designer for the real world, source controlled and complex scenarios.

  6. Dynamics AX connector please

    Hi guys.

It would be awesome if you could create a connector for Dynamis AX 2012 or AX 7.

In AX 2012 you could either leverage the out-of-the-box AIF services (Document services) or the ODATA query services.

In AX 7, I think things will be easier as it will be in the cloud and also the services will run on REST/ODATA/JSON etc.

I volunteer to participate in beta :)

  7. Disable/Enable an 'Action' in the LogicApp workflow.

During building & testing a LogicApps, I need to skip certain actions to verify behavior of later actions independently in the flow. Currently, I need to remove the action to perform such task (which is not very productive).
Providing enable/disable feature for action(s) will help in this scenario.

Also, in case, where action needs some input from previous action then feature like "disabling with default output" (mock) will be a great help during development phase.

  8. Create Folder Using SFTp Connector

We have a big need to create folders in SFTP sites so we are then able to drop files in individual folders.

  9. Connector for Azure KeyVault

This would be awesome for storing usernames, passwords and other secure strings in the Azure Keyvault and using them in a Logic App.

Useful for Calling APIs with passwords, or even using for storing configuration data.

  13. Can we get an ability to have simple code expressions in Logic Apps?

Question on the logic apps expression language:

One of the things that really can be a showstopper for logic apps, is the fact that the language is really limited. Just taking an example here. An API app would return a list of objects that include a datetime.
Then I want to loop through all the items and only send information out if that date is on a week-day. This can be done by an expression, but the expression language does not allow me to use custom code and does not have an implementation for this specific function. (and there are…

  15. Provide debugging, exception handling and logging/tracing capabilities

On premise debugging is difficult (from a BizTalk perspective), but in the cloud it is even more difficult. We need to have a way to be able to easily debug workflows to improve productivity.
Tracking, tracing and logging are easy to implement on development, but when an application moves to production it impacts performance heavily. We need to have an out-of-the-box way to enable/disable these features to be able to check workflows on production systems.
So far I haven't found anything about exception handing in the logic apps. What happens when a value from one API is a string and…

We’ve released the first few phases of this so completing the item and can re-open a few more. For tracking you can now subscribe to Azure Diagnostics and get any run data about your Logic App – you can also track any inputs/outputs so you can trace your workflows. Debugging can use diagnostics or the run details blade in Azure. Finally for exception handling in a Logic App you can use the new ‘runAfter’ functionality to say “run After this step failed” – you can also put items in a scope and use the “@result()” to check if any acitons failed in a scope to act accordingly. More work coming, but for now marking this item as complete.

  16. Action to Run Data Factory Pipeline

It would be very powerful to have an Action that would trigger running a Data Factory Pipeline. I am currently staging data to storage and when it is complete I would like to trigger a Data Factory Pipeline to run. There are many other workflows I could implement with this functionality.

  17. Virutal network Connectivity Support

When Logic Apps was part of the App Service Plan we could use an ASE environment to put api's inside virtual network, this network could then be connected to OnPrem via VPN/Express Route giving great access to OnPrem resources.

This is still possible but as we are moving forward with Managed API's this functionality will be lost unless we create custom API's and deploy them in the ASE and use them in our Logic Apps. Since this will be custom we can't reuse the standard out of box Mangaged API's and that is not ideal.

    I would like to have…

  18. Support data management gateway in http, http + swagger api connector

It is close to a showstopper that logic apps cannot access on premise web services natively in the same way that they can access on premise files or databases.

This limits severely the available scope of what logic apps can be used for without having to drop down to programming (e.g. API apps + Hybrid connections) or some other complex solutions with AD Application gateways, vnets etc...

Allowing the http and http + swagger API connector to make use of the On Premise Data Management gateway (or alternatively, make use of hybrid connections) would be a coherent and logical way…

  19. Allow for Actions and Triggers to Talk to Office 365 Tasks/Planner/Project Server

Be able to Submit Tasks in Office 365 Planner of Project Server
Be able to trigger on completed Tasks in Office 365 Planner of Project Server

A Scenario: User onboarding ( new account in Azure AD ) results in Tasks for different departments to work on the rest of the onboarding.

  20. Open Source Connectors (Twitter, Twilio, Dropbox etc)

It would be great if the connectors such as Twitter, Twilio, Dropbox etc.. could be made Open Source so it could be forked on GitHub so that I can make the Twitter connector return a more complex object such as the media object ie the photos attached.

For reference here is the forum post re Twitter API Connector
