Logic Apps

Logic Apps allow developers to design workflows that articulate intent via a trigger and series of steps, each invoking an App Service API app whilst securely taking care of authentication and best practices like durable execution.
If you have any feedback or ideas on Azure Logic Apps we’d love to hear it.

  1. Connectors to ticketing tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, Remedy etc.

Would be great to have connectors to ticketing tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, Remedy etc. This will automate Logic app workflows efficiently. Few workflows would require triggering when a ticket is raised to a resolver group and such connectors would be indispensable.

Logic Apps now has a JIRA connector. For other connector suggestions please open separate ideas for each one.

  2. servicenow

Would be good to have a ServiceNow connector.

  4. Use SSH Key to Authenticate in SFTP Connector

Currently the SFTP-Connector is limited to username/password only; since we're already talking SSH it would be good to authenticate via a SSH Key

  5. Please make the cards (or shapes) collapsable

For a simple (IFTTT-style) workflow, you typically have 3-4 shapes or cards. But when we need to start building more complex workflows (including exception handling, routing, correlation), we'll easily end up with more cards (unless if we want to make our micro services monoliths again). Therefore, it would be nice if cards can be collapsed, so that we have a higher level of flow overview on the screen, instead of the big boxes.

  7. Tighter Mapping(transformation) with Connectors

In a lot of the examples out there the data mapping is pretty simple but I think in more advanced scenarios we will run into limitations quickly.

What I haven't seen at this point is how to map incoming data (using a mapper) into a connector. Yes there is a drop down but the input data needs to be "typed". This worked well in the Azure Friday demo (SQL to Salesforce), but what if I have an inbound XML or JSON message coming via File, FTP, Service Bus Etc.

If I am able upload a CSV, XSD or JSON schema,…

Logic Apps has a Compose action as well as built-in functions for converting between different message types. Compose will allow you to construct a new message from the outputs of other actions.

  9. Transport level encryption for MQ Connector

    Hi,

Can you please add the ability for the MQ connector to use TLS 1.2 for transport level encryption? Note: The MQ client natively support the use of CA-signed certificates on both the client and server to encrypt the transport layer

    Thanks, Matt

  10. Seperate configuration from flow or business logic

If we now have a look at the json file that makes up a Logic app, we can see that throughout the entire file, references are being added to the actual runtime deployment of the various API apps. We also see values for the various connectors in the json structure.
It would really help (in deployment of one flow to various staging slots) to seperate configuration or runtime values from the actual flow logic.

With SDK 2.6 you can now check your Logic Apps into source control, and use different parameter files for each of the different environments, separating runtime config out from the definition itself.

  11. MySQL connector for database hosted in Azure

I should be able to connect to MySQL database in Azure without requiring the data gateway installation.

  13. Azure Storage Queue connector

I'm a huge fan of Logic Apps - thank you! There are great connectors for Service Bus queues and for Blob Storage, but I cannot find one for Storage Queues. For me, the biggest advantage is using Logic Apps in the middle of a larger loosely-connected application. A Logic App that is triggered by new queue messages, and can also leave queue messages for a downstream microservice would be very valuable.

  14. SAP Connector (RECEIVE)

Existing v1 connector allows for Sending IDocs, RFCs, and BAPIs to SAP. In order to have symmetry with BizTalk LOB adapter, we need ability to receive IDocs or host an RFC in Logic Apps much like you can do in BizTalk.

  15. Create a trigger for "On SQL Row Insert"

I have a table in an Azure SQL DB that I put email notifications that I need sent. Currently I have to have a 15 minute timer "sweep" job that gets the emails from that table and sends them.

Why can't we have a trigger to fire off Logic Apps based on rows inserted into a table. I would be ok if we had to set polling duration and it wasn't a true JUST IN TIME trigger.

  18. Need option to create api connection using ARM/powershell scripts

Currently, we can manage API Connections only through the azure portal.
There should be option to create api connection using ARM/powershell scripts.

While creating logic apps with SFTP or other connections it should be possible to create a new api connection to the resource we want to use. Currently we need to create the api connection and refer in the ARM script.
