Logic Apps

Logic Apps allow developers to design workflows that articulate intent via a trigger and series of steps, each invoking an App Service API app whilst securely taking care of authentication and best practices like durable execution.
If you have any feedback or ideas on Azure Logic Apps we’d love to hear it.

  1. SOAP Connector with hybrid support

    We have very real scenarios consuming our SOAP based services on-premises which are behind the firewall.

  3. Embeddable visual designer

    It would be great if we could embed the visual workflow designer from the portal into our own web apps to allow admin users to edit the workflow steps. Then we could post the updated JSON back to Azure Logic Apps via the REST API.

  5. Suspend and Resume of the Workflow run.

    Same as the operation Cancel an work flow run(which is avialble today with Rest API or on Portal ), it would be really great and useful if we can suspend and Unsuspend/Resume a work flow run.

  7. Provide management overview of the runtime endpoints

    Now it is extremely difficult to see the various "triggers" and to stop/start them. With BizTalk, we have receive locations that we can all see in one view and we can stop/start them. (the same thing for send ports). Now all of that is encapsulated in the logic app and it would really be a good thing to provide more "management views". As an example, we have customers with more than 1000 receive endpoints. I want to get them in an easy to handle and search overview.

  8. BizTalk Flat File Encoder: Convert a given flat file instance to JSON

    A very common integration scenario is that a flatfile (csv) gets uploaded to a ftp server. The file contains e.g. informations about an order which must send to a LOB-system like Salesforce. It would be nice to use a Logic App therefor, together with a FTP Connector, BizTalk Flat File Encoder and Salesforce Connector. But it is not that simple today. As far as I can see so far, we would need need a BizTalk XPath Extractor in addition. So I wish like to see a BizTalk Flat File Encoder which supports json other than just xml. I think with…

  10. Alternate to POP3 for Inbound Email Parse, Like SendGrid

    https://sendgrid.com/docs/API_Reference/Webhooks/parse.html

    The core of the request here is to be able to point an MX record at LogicApp, and have it receive and process inbound emails that way, rather than checking a mailbox. This would not be simple to implement, but it would be a self-contained solution. It's probably just as difficult as the HTTP Listener connector. Maybe harder.

    Sendgrid's Inbound Parse feature is essentially equivalent to a very primitive logic app for receiving email and generating a webhook/API call from it. Their solution lacks the full functionality and capability of LogicApps, otherwise I would use that for my current…

  11. FTP Connector : GetFiles recursively

    I would like an option for GetFiles to provide recursive results (perhaps an option for N folder depth?).

    I'm aware that this can cause a performance lag, but I imagine some parallelization would be possible to minimize the lag as much as possible.

  12. Lock VS created Logic App

    Now we can create a Logic App in Visual Studio, we need to lock down the deployed logic app so that it can only be changed from VS and not in the azure portal.

    Example... I create a logic app in VS. I deploy via our ALM processes. Later, someone edits the logic app in the Azure Portal. Now source control is out of sync with the logic app = confusion.

    Thanks for the feedback – we realize these are important capabilities.

  14. FTP Connector : GetFiles for root path

    There seems to be no way for the FTP connector to perform a GetFiles for the root path.

  17. Should have OOB support for expressions/functions like split(), notequal(,) notnull(), isnull(), isint(),isfloat() etc.

    I would love to see few basic expressions supported OOB.

    Should have OOB support for expressions/functions like split(), notequal(,) notnull(), isnull(), isint(),isdouble()/isfloat() etc.

    Though there are workarounds to handle these situations, they make code more complex to understand (increase complexity & maintainability).
    Also this adds flexibility and gives power to user to choose stuff of his choice. One may argue to use azure functions but then, users need to create such stuff on their own (or user 3rd party stuff, if supported) but having OOB support for basic stuff adds more power, flexibility, improves customer satisfaction & boost technology adoption.

  18. Provide SLA hints on each connector

    I see so many developers getting caught off guard by not reading the SLA documentation on certain enterprise connectors which ends up failing in production.

    Having the SLA easily visible or accessible in the designer may provide invaluable information right as I'm designing the workflow and help prevent a misuse of the connector.

  20. Pick/WaitAny Action

    It would be great to be able to appy the notion of a Pick Activity (from WF 4.5) or WaitAny (.Net Task speak) within the workflow (designer or code view).

    Currently you can go parallel (code view only), but the can must wait for both. It would seem that the RunAfter would need some notion of OR (WaitAny)/AND (WaitAll):

            "Terminate": {

    "inputs": {
    "runError": {},
    "runStatus": "Failed"
    },
    "runAfter": {
    "Delay": [
    "Succeeded"
    ],
    "HTTP_Webhook": [
    "Succeeded"
    ]
    },
    "type": "Terminate"
    }
