Logic Apps

Logic Apps allow developers to design workflows that articulate intent via a trigger and series of steps, each invoking an App Service API app whilst securely taking care of authentication and best practices like durable execution.
If you have any feedback or ideas on Azure Logic Apps we’d love to hear it.

  1. Restore logic app scheduling flexibility

    Give us back the scheduling options demonstrated in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/logic-apps/tutorial-build-schedule-recurring-logic-app-workflow. It looks like, per the discussion in the comments of this article, that this functionality was reduced. It would be great to have the flexibility to schedule more specifically than just once per hour, etc.

  3. Check active ftp connections in app service

    I would like to have the the ability to check the number of active ftp connections in an app service.

    Information like client name, client IP, FTP session initiated time, FTP transfer status etc. are nice to haves.

  5. terraform

    Terraform is in wide use across industry and is better and easier to use than ARM. While it is possible to create a logic apps service in Teraform individual piplelines and connectors cannot be created in this way.
    Happy to discuss off line

  8. ping SFTP service

    If we can monitor our SFTP service it is so useful. For example there can be a trigger "if login to SFTP fails"

  9. PowerApps - capacity (license and storage) management granularity

    Currently, “Who can create production environments” allows restrictions to “Global Admins, Dynamics 365 service admins, Platform service admins and Delegated admins”.

    “Who can allocate add-on capacity to environments” which includes allocating licenses is restricted to “Global admins and Dynamics 365 service admins”.

    We believe this to be an oversight in restrictions, as it doesn’t allow Power Platform admins who can create environments to manage licenses to those environments. Managing an existing environment would be seen as a sub-delegation task to creation of new environments.

    Can the Power Platform Admin centre be updated to add this management granularity?

  10. Action Upgrades and Retirements

    Recently "Send an Email" was upgraded to "Send an Email (V2)" without any notice to Logic Apps users. Every time an action has been upgraded, us Logic Apps users have gotten no notice about this. These older versions will not be automatically updated and will be retired one day. I'd like to get email notifications for when new versions of actions are going to be released and when the older versions will be depreciated and then retired.

  11. Simplify subnet definition in ISE Template

    The Resource Manager template for provisioning a Logic App ISE requires an array of Azure resource IDs corresponding to the four Virtual Network subnets to use for the ISE. Currently the subnets must be defined as a JSON object array in the following format:

    [
    {"id":"<resourceId>"},
    {"id":"<resourceId>"},
    {"id":"<resourceId>"},
    {"id":"<resourceId>"}
    ]

    This is a verbose format.

    It would be cleaner, and more compact if the subnet definition could accept a simple array of resource IDs (dropping the "id"). For example:
    [
    <resourceId>,
    <resourceId>,
    <resourceId>,
    <resourceId>
    ]

    One good workaround for this for now is https://github.com/Azure/azure-quickstart-templates/tree/master/201-integration-service-environment

  12. Publish full ARM template for ISE

    There is no schema defined at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/templates/microsoft.logic/allversions for how to provision a Logic App ISE. Documentation should be provided which fully describes how to provision a Logic App ISE via a Resource Manager template.

    The workaround is to provision a Logic App ISE via the Azure Portal and then extract the ISE related sections from the Microsoft.Logic resource using Azure Resource Explorer (https://resources.azure.com). However, that is not entirely enough, as Azure Resource Explorer does not provide details on the required Virtual Network subnet configuration. In order to obtain that information, one must go throug a series of trial…

  13. api connection

    Finding unused API Connections
    When Logic Apps are deleted, the API Connections remain. On the API Connection blade, there is no information about what Logic Apps is using it, or if it is in use. Result is that many API Connections are kept to prevent deleting used ones.
    When deleting a used API Connection there is also no warning that it is is use. After deleting the connection, the Logic App will fail.
    Please implement at least one of the two.

  14. Logic app secret inputs hiding too much data

    Documentation states following:

    > When you manually turn on Secure Inputs in a trigger or action, Logic Apps secures these inputs in the run history. If a downstream action explicitly uses the visible outputs from that trigger or action as inputs, Logic Apps hides this downstream action's inputs in the run history, but doesn't enable Secure Inputs in this action and doesn't hide this action's outputs.

    As user I find this really hard for management. Why downstream action inputs are hidden automatically? It would make much more sense if output only controls future inputs.

    E.g. setting HTTP request input secret…

  15. Reset trigger state when a logic app is enabled

    I just found out that logic apps trigger state is maintained when the logic app is disabled. This is a great feature, but usually one of the reasons to disable the logic app is to avoid events that are triggered during that period.

    Today, the workaround to circumvent this is to manually make changes in the trigger and save the logic app again. This will reset the state.

    What I suggest is that when you enable the logic app, the environment ask if you want to reset the state. This would put the control in the hands of the operational…

  16. Allow multiple Logic Apps to be added to one ARM template in Visual Studio with better control of connections and parameters

    The current issues that i'm experiencing working on an enterprise integration project are:

    • Working on 12 separate Logic Apps with a few a shared connections is extremely cumbersome as the solution is designed for 1 Logic App.

    • The Visual Studio Logic App experience limits (or at least obfuscates) some of the low level details like connections and parameters. This reason that i'm using Logic Apps and not Flow is because I need control of these details.

    • To work around this i'm using the designer in Visual Studio to develop each logic app and then manually adding the definitions and connections…

  17. Reusable JSON schemas in logic apps

    Reusable JSON schemas in logic apps. Currently there is no way to reference a schema and re-use the same schema for validation and composing new json data into Logic Apps.

    For instance, i have an address json schema, i have to hardcode this schema into every logic app that will utilize this very generic schema. Supportability-wise it will be very difficult to handle this.

  18. Rename of API Connection in Logic Apps

    When we have created API Connection, but we can't rename API connection.
    To make it easy to understand when checking the API connection,
    I would like to rename API connection according to the application.

    e.g. )SharePointOnline, FileSystem.

  20. Logic Apps Factory

    One of the things that Azure Data Factory does great and I wish Logic Apps would is to have a top-level containner object that contain everything you need in a solution.

    Often, a « solution » using Logic Apps includes multiple objects : different flows and connectors. The developper doesn’t always know ahead of time how many flows he/she’ll need and has to ask admins to create new ones. Comes deployment time, moving the solution from one RG (dev) to another (test/prod) can be a pain.

    I’d love to have a top level object (aka a logic app factory) that included multiple…
