Logic Apps

Logic Apps allow developers to design workflows that articulate intent via a trigger and series of steps, each invoking an App Service API app whilst securely taking care of authentication and best practices like durable execution.
If you have any feedback or ideas on Azure Logic Apps we’d love to hear it.

  1. Uploading complex schemas to integration account

The integration account currently allows uploading one artefact at a time. This is a pain, especially when we have to upload a complex schema. Moreover, there is no provision to store dependent schemas in an order expected by the complex schema. If you are expecting enterprise integration to be done using Logic Apps, this issue needs to be addressed. The documentation on uploading complex schemas also needs to be updated.

  2. BizTalk Vistual Studio integration - Enable Extensibility / Customization

I would like to extend some of the core BizTalk Visual Studio components, but it's difficult to do without re-writing extensive parts of the editors as most of the classes are internal or protected.
If classes were made public by default then they could be re-used so only specific classes can be extended.
Alternatively DI hooks could be added or the code for certain components could be made open source.

Examples of where I would like to extend:
    - Microsoft.BizTalk.Mapper.MapperVsPackage
I would like to enhance the Functoid configuration dialog box to enable naming of the inputs and add custom editors…

  3. Add Event Grid Custom Event as Batch Release Criteria

Right now, releasing a batch inside a Logic App supports count, size, and schedule.

It would be nice to have the option of a custom Event Grid event to release the batch. This way many systems in Azure could raise this event to release the batch.

  4. Add Google Chat webhooks to Logic App connectors, or to Alerts.

We would like to send alerts to Google Chat channels, the same way we can send alerts to Slack.

  5. WDL Intellisense in LogicApps

During last week i saw that Logic apps designer had intellisense for WDL functions. But for past few days it is not working in Logic Apps designer.

  8. Update D365 For Operation Record based on External Key

We need to record have the record ID to update a D365FO Entity record but, when the record is coming from another system, we don't have the key. We should be able to use an alternate key ( Custom Field ) to be used as the unique key.

  9. UI support for E2E Tracking of messages

Today Logic App UI provides Tracking support for Enterprise connectors, which includes AS2 and X12. We have Integration workflows that includes both Enterprise connectors and others like XML Transform, Flat File Encode, Functions etc. Our workflows also include disparate systems - Logic Apps + web services etc. Few UI improvements that would be very helpful are :

    - Single UI that provides overall processing status of the message, along with protocol(AS2/X12) specific processing

    - UI support to view the E2E itinerary of the message and drill into details

Would be great to have this support provided through UI by Logic…

  10. When file is completed created then trigger rather immediate trigger

Current File trigger has two options:

    1- When file is added/modified
    2- When file is created

Above both are not working in simple case. It always throws error when file copy pasted because it gets triggered immidiatly while the file still being pasted.

  11. See who has not read a Yammer message

I'm looking at the Logic Apps Yammer connector. When we put a message on Yammer we want to find out who has read it. Is there a way to find a list of people in a Yammer group who have not read a Yammer message? If it can't be done in Logic Apps, is there another way to do it?

  12. Calling Azure functions from a map

It would be great to have a native functoid to call an Azure function and pass parameters to it.
This can be very useful for example when it comes to data transcodification handled by an Azure function or to reuse helpers already implemented as Azure functions.

  13. Extend support for XSLT Map Transform with Saxon-PE or Saxon-EE parsers

For XSLT transformation, currently only the open sourced Saxon-HE is supported to implement XSLT 2.0/3.0. But some key xslt functions (xsl:translate) are not yet supported with Saxon-HE.
In order to take full advantage of XSLT 2.0/3.0 capabilities, this has to be upgraded to Saxon-PE or Saxon-EE parsers.
parser. This move would remove unnecessary constraints and benefit the MS Integration Developers Community.

  14. Better handling of parameters for a map

If we want to give parameters to a map today, we need to first generate the XSL in VStudio and then add the parameters manually into the XSL before uploading it to the Enterprise Integration Account.
It could be great to have a native support of parameters in the mapping editor inside Visual Studio.

  15. JSON Conversion Function Expression does not support escaped strings.

Why does json() not function exactly like JavaScripts JSON.parse? Azure Storage Queue will escape my JSON string and I am unable to escape it by means of an expression, which means I have to leverage costly functions.

    Sample usage: json('{\"@odata.etag\":\"\"}')

  16. HubSpot... Deals | Trigger on state change to "closed/won"

Love the HubSpot Linked service in ADF, but... I need to drive enterprise workflows based on a HubSpot Deal moving from any state to state == "closed/won".

Currently, I have to do it with time triggers and then loop through the HubSpot API or poll the HubSpot API, using up API calls...

    Thanks,
    Michael

  17. enterprise pack

Add a If functoid. Takes three parameters: First is an expression result, second and third are any type (object or string). Logic would be:
    if ({first parameter} = true) return {second parameter};
    return {third parameter)

  18. Submit Word document to Text Analytics to get key phrases back

It is not easy to determine what is in a Word document unless a user looks at it. The requirement is to extract some key words from the document so that we can store some metadata in a PowerApp. The specific use-case is to have a user to upload a contract, income statement, balance sheet, loan application and tax records so that the documents can be submitted for approval. The problem is that the power app cannot tell the difference between a balance sheet and a restaurant menu, and people are likely to upload unrelated documents to try to game…

  19. Historical run outputs should hide param values which are designated as securestring

Looking through Logic App historical runs, I can see secrets which are designated as securestring. MS sanitizes the output in certain cases - for example, the 'secret' when using Active Directory OAuth on an Http activity. It would be ideal if all logic app params which are typed as 'securestring' had their value sanitized when looking through historical runs

  20. environment

Logic apps should have a blade that contains configuration settings much like the application configuration settings that are present for App Services.

Currently I use several variable initialization steps within my logic app for configuration settings. These add visual clutter to my flows and make it difficult for others to quickly determine which variables are in fact configurable.

What I want is a blade that allows me to enter configuration settings in a name/value dictionary. These values should then be readable within my logic app from a settings object, such as:

    @settings()?['my_key']
