Add the SQL SSIS features and functionality in Azure PaaS components
Many customers have the requirement to migrate on premise applications to the cloud (not hybrid) as PaaS applications. If SQL SSIS features and functionality do not get added into Azure PaaS features somewhere (I don't care which product) then that is a show stopper for meeting customers 100% PaaS solution. They do not want to have one or more VMs in Azure as IaaS just for SQL SSIS. This seems like an oversight.
You can now lift and shift your existing SSIS packages from on-prem and run these with full compatibility and production SLA in ADF!
Get started today by creating an SSIS Integration Runtime in ADF: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-factory/tutorial-deploy-ssis-packages-azure

Azure Data Factory V2 now allows SSIS and Integration Services Catalog to be hosted on an Azure SQL DB. And you can (supposedly) hook it to a VNet and then hook that VNet to a Point-to-site VPN to have access to on-premise resources. But even without SSIS on Azure, check out ADF V2. They just released the GUI tools for the portal a few days ago.
There is more than a little confusion about whether Data Factory is intended to augment or deprecate SSIS. Microsoft's publication of its 'roadmap' intent for SSIS/SSRS with respect to AZURE integration would be very welcome. SSAS in AZURE, even as a 'beta' is a godsend.
