Thanks for the valid suggestion. Looking forward to see community upvoting this feature which allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature. Thank you

  2. service map timeline larger then 1 hour

Currently it only appears like I can view systems connected in service map in 1-hour windows. This makes it difficult to see what is being used having to go days/months back in 1-hour chunks. A total view of all connections would be great, or at the very least in 1 month chunks.

  3. Service Map to automate Micro Segmentation of NSGs

As Service Map can Identify all network connectivity it would be very beneficial if it was possible to create Automated Suggestions for Microsoft Segmentation of Network Security Groups for the Security Admin to consider and Automate the Deployment of.

  4. Consolidate OMS Agent and ServiceMap Agent

Can we get a single agent for this solution? We are getting a lot of push-back on having two install two agents to get this functionality.

This is something we are actively working on. Note that the two agents will likely never be fully consolidated into a single executable. What we are going to do is make it easier to manage the Dependency Agent so that in most cases, it’s not a separate manual install.

  5. put service map in Australia.

  6. Show database connections in Service Map

It would be extremely useful to be able to map an IIS worker process making a connection to a particular database rather than just a SQL Server.

An example, a web server with 5 (this could easily be 100 )unique and unrelated sites. These sites make connection to different databases, some of which are on a shared sql server and others may be on other shared sql servers. The existing solution will only show a connection to the sql server process, which makes the map less accurate than it could be.

Could the databases be presented grouped under the SQL…

  7. Apply filters to what's being shown in service map

Allow us to apply filters to hide certain processes like SCOM for example that might be common to all servers.

I added a domain controller for example and it regularly refuses to show the map because of too many entries. If I could filter out say DNS it might be able to render.

We are working designs for ways to filter which processes and connections are shown. In addition, yesterday we checked in a feature that should enable you to show a map for domain controllers. First, we are now grouping connections to machines without an agent by port. This provides a more useful view where you can see all the connections to a given port, and it simplifies the map as we don’t draw a node for each individual back-end connection.

  8. Service Mapping for more than 1 machine

Service Mapping showing more than a single machine would be useful.

I'd suggest a query based model. OMS is based on Log Analytics, right ;-) The query should by no means be limited to computers; please allow for querying Log Analytics for processes, port numbers in use etc. etc.

Similarly it would be beneficial if the diagram could identify and highlight OMS registered machines and not only machines where the dependency agent is installed.

  9. AppServices WebApps and WebJobs

    Hi,
I think you are ignoring the fact that AppServices WebApps ad WebJobs are extensively getting adopted in the industry as this has brought in great convenience about its integration with VSTS.
Services like HPPT, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, IIS Services per se are the important parts that have been brought in as a bundle.
Hence to know from Infra point of view it is very important that I have a ServiceMap capable of "decomposing" to the lowest possible level.
Please add this feature to the next earliest release.
Earlier called as ADM now as Service Map preview

Thanks, for your feedback. Currently Service Map requires installing the Dependency Agent in the guest OS to provide dependency discovery. In the first half of 2017, we will extend our discovery to include ARM resources, at which point we’ll plan to cover PaaS services like AppServices and SQL Azure.

We also plan to integrate with Application Insights data to be able to surface their app performance telemetry and alerts in Service Map views.

  11. Annotate IP's not under dependency agent

Allow us to annotate IP addresses in Service Map that we can't install the dependency agent on; eg cluster IP's, load balancer virtual ip's etc.

  12. Bring Network Performance Monitor into Service Map

For example, in a 3-tier deployment of a web service (IIS front end, middle tier job processing and SQL backend), I would like to see the results of network performance monitoring in the Service Map solution. This could be very useful when troubleshooting slowness to the SQL server, but using Service Map to visualize the 3 tiers as a group.

  13. Add UDP traffic discovery to Service Map

Service Map is great at showing TCP communications, but it doesn't surface anything on the UDP side, which is a big gap when using the tool to determine what is currently talking to what, or to flag anything that is unexpected.

Is that something that's likely to be added at some point?

  14. Service Group for Group of Computer Groups

I'm glad the Computer Group addition was add but if the grouping can be taken a step further and show high level view with connections between defined computer groups that contain computers that are communicating. Then clicking a group within this view would take you to your computer group for drill-down details. But the relationship between groups would be beneficial to see.

  16. Amazon Linux / Amazon Linux 2 is not supported for Dependency Agent

Amazon Linux is not supported for Dependency Agent.
Customer uses AWS and its VM.
And they use On-pre machine and Azure VMs.

They want to use Service Map for monitoring.
When will Amazon Linux be supported?
And their addtional request is to supported Amazon Linux 2.

  18. Make Azure Log Analytics Dependency Agent available in Azure Portal GUI

You currently can install the Dependency Agent through Azure Portal GUI, must use either PowerShell, ARM templates or possibly (haven't tested) Azure Policies. How?! Why?!

Please make it possible to manage the Dependency Agent extension through the Azure Portal web GUI.

  20. Linux Dependency Agent RHEL kernel support

The latest Linux Dependency Agent installer does not yet support RHEL 7.3 kernel release 3.10.0-693 (Security Advisory RHSA-2017:1842). Is it on the release roadmap?
