No data after more than 60 minutes (SQL Assessment and IIS)
Both the Change Tracking and Log Management have not received any data and have a orange triangle exclamation icon. The tile text indicates I should post here if more than 60 minutes passes and the error does not go away. At this point only the Malware Assessment seems to have any data. About 6hrs have elapsed at the time of this post.
The fix that enables both SQL Assessment and IIS Logs to be collected from Direct Agent has been published today.
SQL Assessment also requires .NET 4 to be present on the agent to function.
In general, when troubleshooting data flow, refer to the following resources:
For IIS Logs, I had blogged some considerations here earlier on http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2014/09/19/iis-log-format-requirements-in-system-center-advisor.aspx but troubleshooting steps for OpsMgr and Direct Agent would be slightly different.
Capacity Planning does NOT work with Direct Agent – that scenario requires Operations Manager AND Virtual Machine Manager today – http://feedback.azure.com/forums/267889-azure-operational-insights/suggestions/6519243-capacity-intelligence-pack-does-not-work-if-scom-v and the scenario is currently about the capacity of a private cloud. Consider the ideas about collecting just performance counters from agents or WAD
Official documentation for what does and doesn’t work with Direct Agent is also here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn848311.aspx
Look at the ‘Operations Manager’ Event Log on the agent is, anyhow, the common single most useful troubleshooting step for anything MMA-related. Common connectivity or configuration errors are described in the blog post here http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2014/05/29/advisor-error-3000-unable-to-register-to-the-advisor-service-amp-onboarding-troubleshooting-steps.aspx

Hi Sean - not yet.
The 'fix' was actually more involved than originally anticipated, and tied to a shared component that will also unblock IIS at the same time - so it took longer, but it's now being tested and should be very close to publishing.
Once the fix is published we'll update this thread and mark it completed.
Also our onboarding troubleshooting post mentions/tracks this http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2014/05/29/advisor-error-3000-unable-to-register-to-the-advisor-service-amp-onboarding-troubleshooting-steps.aspx

Hello, has this been fixed or still in a non working state? I have just added a SQL server to my OPInsights Preview and after 3 days still no data showing. Many thanks.
I'll keep this open to track the fix we are doing to enable SQL Assessment with direct agent.
Cool. The actual IIS logs from IIS7 can be managed in SCOM because they are sent to the SCOM management server which then sends them to the cloud. The SCOM MS always has a dependency on .NET 4.0, and this particular workflow uses that. Unfortunately on Windows 2008R2 and below we use .NET 2.0 and not 4.0 on the agent, hence we can't currently instantiate this module there in the 'agent sending directly' scenario right now.
Anyhow, I am told we actually have plans to investigate if this limitation can be lifted in the future.
Could you pls file a specific feedback for this ('allow collecting IIS logs from windows server 2008/r2 with direct agent' or similar) so we can let people vote and see how many need this prioritized?
This can be closed.
Thanks that pretty much explains it. I am using a physical machine with Server 2008 R2 SP1 & II7
Yeah 60 minutes is a bit optimistic with the current pipeline. I reached out to the Change Tracking guys for the message.
SQL Assessment does not *yet* work with Direct Agent right now, but we are working on that (should be next week or the one after, it's just waiting deployment of a fix on our end).
Capacity Planning does NOT work with Direct Agent - that scenario requires Operations Manager AND Virtual Machine Manager today - http://feedback.azure.com/forums/267889-azure-operational-insights/suggestions/6519243-capacity-intelligence-pack-does-not-work-if-scom-v
For IIS Logs, I had blogged some considerations here earlier (i.e. which version of Operating System/IIS ? We only work with IIS7 and IIS8 at the moment when in OpsMgr-attach mode, and only on IIS8 with Direct Agent) and other info http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2014/09/19/iis-log-format-requirements-in-system-center-advisor.aspx but troubleshooting steps for OpsMgr and Direct Agent could be slightly different.
If this does not help, look at the 'Operations Manager' Event Log on the agent for clues on that one.
This is the direct agent. and is a new install.
This morning a few things are showing up in both Change Tracking and Log Management.
IIS Logs, SQL Assessment and Capacity Planning are still not showing though.
It may be that since I have not installed this on a vm Capacity Planning does nothing for me.

Are you using 'direct' agent or Operations Manager attach topology?
Has it worked before or it's a new onboarding?
