We want to get an alert if a Server don´t post any data in the Workspace since 5 minutes. Like a heartbeat from each Agent.
Agents now send in heartbeats as log data that can be queried.
This blog post describes a way that you can use this information and also a ping test to alert when a computer is not available.
I have installed OMS Agent on some Servers and configured alerts when heartbeat failed. Query as: -
Type=Heartbeat | measure max(TimeGenerated) as LastCall by Computer | where LastCall < NOW-5MINUTES.
But sometimes face issue in delay in getting alert mail even delay of 1 day. There is no network ping drop on servers.
I would like to turn on alert when my internal page in iis in my own server fall down. How can I configure oms ?
I configured alert in my server like this
Type=Heartbeat | measure max(TimeGenerated) as LastCall by Computer | where LastCall < NOW-5MINUTE
will be great feature to track how long machine is up or down or when it stop heart beating?

I opened some weeks ago a support case because the approach you announced for tracking a computer's heartbeat was not working as expected. I tried two different approaches, none of them were doind their job. The support case was finally closed with the support engineer telling me the OMS team acknowledged there was a problem and that you were working on a better, real real-time approach :-)
