  2. Faster resource deletion

    CosmosDB resources take a very long time to delete. Make this faster please!

    We have reviewed this and have added to to our committed work items for this semester.

    One thing to point out however is that resource deletion for Cosmos will never be super fast. The reason is that we need to ensure that all connections and caches are drained before we delete the resource. This can some minutes for this to happen.

    We will update here when we release this work.

    Thank you.

  3. Support \Q and \E escape sequence for $regex

    Support for \Q and \E escape sequences with $regex is important when Mongo API is used in conjunction with Java. This support has been added into MongoDB with 1.9

  4. date difference function in cosmos db

    Right now there was no date diff function supported in cosmos
    It will be great if date related functions are available in cosmos

  5. bulk executor for nodejs

    Will the bulk executor be available for nodejs? Bulk operations are available in all the competitors databases... (datastore, mongo, firestore, etc.)

  6. Support the same PartitionKey/RowKey sorting as Azure Table Storage

    The lack of this feature in Table API prevents a lot of apps to migrate from Azure Table storage to Cosmos DB because this is the only sorting functionality in tables and apps are actively using this feature.

    We have reviewed this request.

    While we are API compatible with Table storage we do not precisely match every behavior. Sorting is one of those. We do not have any current plans to support this but will put on our backlog.

    For a complete listing of where our implementation diverges from Table storage please see this article below.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cosmos-db/faq#where-is-table-api-not-identical-with-azure-table-storage-behavior

    Thank you.

  7. Document how to make & use Icon Sets in the Graph Data Explorer

    You have a Gremlin Graph Intro video that includes use an icon set (the video shows an icon set for Marvel characters) - but there is very little info on how you can create this icon set - i.e. the video shows a vertice that represents the icon set, but it isn't clear what properties on the vertice do what - and also what encoding is used for the icon picture content.

  8. Allow shortestPath and sum steps

    I want to make traversals finding the shortest path between one or more vertices. I need to be able to use shortestPath step or at least have sum step to sum up the edge weights to accomplish this.

  10. Add direct mode support to NodeJS SDK

    The NODE JS SDK is horribly slow. Add direct mode support to reduce latency.

  11. Official ruby support

    Other document databases support ruby or have robust community support for ruby. Azure DocumentDB has neither. This is a show stopper for ruby shops. We're not going to pick a backend tech with zero official support.

  12. table api sort - Javascript Storage Library

    Table API Sorting: Return query results using Table API in lexicographical order for RowKey as per current functionality in Azure Table Storage using specifically the azure-storage NodeJS/Javascript library (not .NET)

  13. fix combined path lenght for unique indexes

    Stated in the documentation "combined paths for all unique index properties should not exceed 60 characters"

    But when creating the following Index

    db.Commits.createIndex(
    {

    "BucketId" : 1,

    "StreamId" : 1,
    "StreamRevisionFrom" : 1,
    "StreamRevisionTo" : 1,

    }, {unique: true})

    I take the above to be 49 characters.

    The following error is returned

    "Make sure that the property names do not contain invalid characters and that the combined paths for all unique index properties do not exceed 60 characters."

  14. Gremlin Graph: Add support for array values in group() and groupCount()

    You should be able to group by an array of values. it is perfectly valid to do a group() or groupCount() like so:

    g.V().groupCount().by(values('id','name').fold())

    Other Graphs implementing Gremlin will give you a result, while CosmosDB fails with:

    "Unexpected Error: Cannot resolve object to a primitive value."

  15. Support lambda steps

    Lambda steps (i.e. steps that take arbitrary groovy-functions as arguments) are currently not supported. We plan to migrate to CosmosDB but have a few traversals that contain lambdas.

  16. Documentation needed for DocumentDB and MongoDB API handling of CosmosDB throttling

    Documentation describing the difference in how DocumentDB and MongoDB's APIs handle Cosmos DB's throttling issues should be available, with recommendations on how to have the MongoDB API retry to work with the throttling errors.

  17. cosmosdb graph make input query multiline

    Please replace the single line textbox of the cosmosdb graph data explorer query filter to a multiline textbox! As of today it is impossible to use even with the simplest gremlin queries.

  18. Add support for sack

    Currently GraphAPI has almost no support for doing operations while traversing or listing vertices, like combining vertex properties with weights (edge property) as you traverse. Math is not supported, and often times an alternative would be to use a sack, but that is also not supported. So there is really no workaround.

  19. Support Table API queries from PowerBI

    Currently, I can't query Table Storage in Azure Cosmos DB from Power BI. I have a lot of useful data stored there but I can't report on it.

  20. Allow me to create global read replicas with different partition keys

    There is really no way to come up with a single partition key for my graph database to satisfy all queries. Some queries would benefit from a different partition key, so why not let people create copies of their whole graphs with different partition keys and give them a way to intelligently route queries to the correct server?

    one write region with partition key A
    multiple read regions with partition key A
    multiple read regions with partition key B
    multiple read regions with partition key C
    ...

    In other words, there would still be a single write region but multiple…
