Azure Backup

Welcome to the Azure Backup feedback forum! This is where we would like to hear your feedback and ideas on how we can improve our product.

How can we improve Azure Backup?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Recover indiviudal files from long term VM backup to azure

It would be great when using Azure Backup Server on premises or DPM backup to Azure to be able to restore individual files from within a VM backup (both Hyhper-V and VMware) in the same way you can for short term backup. At the moment if I want to restore one file from a VM backed up to Azure I have to restore the entire VM.

    • Clean up VMware snapshots when VM backup fails in DPM

Currently when a backup of a VMware VM is interrupted due to the DPM disk filling up or the VMware server rebooting during backup causing the VMware level backup of a VM to fail - the snapshot is left on the VMware VM and requires manual consolidation. Could the DPM backup send a snapshot cleanup command even in the event the backup fails

        • DPM moved to a new vault - do I need the original vault for full restore?

If I move a DPM server to a different vault, will it move the replica along with any recovery points? Maybe I'm a little unclear as to how the Azure Recovery vault works with DPM, but I want to make sure I can fully restore any VMs and/or files from the new vault without needing the original vault, or the local DPM server in case of DR.

            • DPM current branch updates available and installed via console

Making current branch updates available for download and install via the DPM console is something that would make the management of current branch updates easier. The SCCM team do a great job of in-console updates and a similar method would be great
