Backup for O365
I Like to see Longtime protection in Azure Backup or System Center Data Protection Manager for Office 365 Exchange, Sharepoint services. Because today you have to buy a third party solution. There are a lot of Educational institutes around the world in the free edition of Office365 on the Campus Agreement, but backup, restore services of Office 365 is a must have. Think about backup and restore mailboxes, teamsites of Sharepoint etc. Best Regards, James

Not sure why they haven't done this yet. This is a no brainer. Give us a solution to backup mail, sharepoint, onedrive, etc. I expect to pay for it but I would love to be able to do this as SaaS in Azure.

All cloud services, from Azure to Office 365 should have backup-options with Azure Backup from day one. It would be optimal for services as a Microsoft partner MSP just as any Microsoft shop.

They have closed the case and link to one that only relates to Exchange

Has there been any official response on this item? 1,449 votes so far, 2 years.
I think we are at least owed a response even its is "We are creating a 3rd party backup certification process" - which wouldn't be good, but something... please

CionSystems’ office365/azure enterprise self-service and cloud identity management simplifies and speeds up on boarding, migration, compliance reporting and management for cloud and hybrid environments.
CionSystems’ cloud based Identity and Access Management (IAM) Solution, CIMT, is a centralized on premise enterprise to Microsoft OFFICE 365 cloud identity integration, access, data migration and archiving for one drive and management solution. It automates user de-provisioning, provisioning, collects auditing data for compliances from AD| Openldap to Office365. Additionally, the enterprise self-service option for group management, profile management, white pages, password resets, account unlock for both premise and OFFICE 365 cloud. Keep the passwords in sync between on premise domain to OFFICE 365 cloud and other targets. It also provides option to reset passwords from windows login. -

MS Appears to be pushing SkyKick as the option for backup to Azure storage. Not all together convinced of the solution.

Absolutely, backup is not an optional service, and as it stands, so many Office 365 customers do not even know that they would need to enable a third-party tool for backup--most people assume it is backed up by Microsoft. As I've had to tell my clients many times, highly available services are not to be confused with backup--strong uptime does not protect you from every type of issue or loss.
