More Snapshots and longer (non hack) retention times
We need the ability to store daily snapshots for at least 10 years vs the current 200 snapshot limit. So at least 3650 snapshots need to be supported for this to be a good solution for the enterprise, a lot of us have Legal requirements for long term retention.
Right now I have DPM set up in the Azure cloud to do this which is kind of silly. I've had to go from on Prem file storage to Azure Files, to a VM for the files to a DPM server to backup with retention. I'm paying for storing the same files MULTIPLE times to accomplish this.
So to clarify:
- Increase the number of snapshots we can store to at least 3650 to support 10 years of files.
- Instead of using a powershell workaround to extend the default retention periods, fully support it via the Azure console.
- While we're at it, add full search to your snapshots. With 10 years of files, it'd be really nice to have a search function similar to DPM's to be able to find a file when we have a Legal request. IE - you enter a search and it shows you all the search results across all the backup sets.
