Administrative Management on Soft Delete on Backup
There are instances where customer would like to purge the previous Backup Data and start afresh but the limitation to trigger new Backup after 14 days do not let them to suffice the requirement. Also, if we want to change the recovery service vault to configure new Backup, it doesn't allow it to configure instantly and hence, it would be highly recommended to provide administrative access on soft delete if it can be disabled to configure new backup and then can be re-enabled.
You can disable soft deleting option from RSV and then try to to delete backup items.
To disable soft delete, follow these steps:
In the Azure portal, go to your vault, and then go to Settings -> Properties.
In the properties pane, select Security Settings -> Update.
In the security settings pane, under Soft Delete, select Disable.
same here. We need an option to override the soft delete blocker of 14 days.
I am in the same scenario here. We would like to move our backup to a different vault and this is hampering it.
This feature is maybe a good idea, but crashes decommission processes. While it might be really nice to be protected against attacks or accidental deletions it makes the life hard if you have to remove customer data, especially if you are liable to do that after contract cancellations. It fully prevents the deletion of backups for 14 days if you want that or not. It makes it impossible to set up the backup again with the same vault names, even if you move vault out of the current resourcegroup. A renaming of the vault seem to be also not possible. So we urgently need an administrator role which makes it possible to override the soft delete! Why having that feature mandatory at backup vaults, whilst for storage blob immuteable policy you can choose to lock it or not? It is not a standardization as I would expect it in Azure when everything is handled in different ways.
