Longer Term Retention of Backups for Azure File Shares
I have set up an Azure File Share and configured a daily backup. But the retention period for daily backup is only 120 days. I need a way to retain backups for a longer period of time for compliance and archival purposes. Quarterly backups would be fine. Is there a way I can backup a file share or a snapshot of a file share to regular Azure Backup with the availability of its longer retention periods?
Azure backup now supports configuring backup policy with daily/weekly/monthly/yearly retention for Azure file share backup. Now you can retain your backup data (snapshots) up to 10 years.
I have about 10 TB in just one of our Azure Files Storage Accounts atm.
I want to move away from DPM backing up our On Prem instance (so we can go to tiered files), but without more granular backup plans, we can't tier off our data, as the Azure Backup solution is incomplete.
I want to keep 14 Days of Backups
I want to keep 4 Weekly Backups
I want to keep 12 Monthly Backups
I want to keep 10 Yearly backups.

same. I need better retention and then I'm aggressively rolling this out!

I need this too. Our plan is migrate from StorSimple to Azure File Sync, but the long term retention for backups of Azure File Share is a prereq to do that.
