How can we improve Azure Backup?

Enable SQL database backup in MARS

Enable SQL database backup in MARS.

We would like to use MARS also to backup SQL databases.
Now we have to use DPM/MABS and that is overkill for only the backup.

We have around 180 servers with SQL databases spread over the world. And installing DPM on all these sites is overkill.

So we like to have the option to use MARS also for SQL database backup.

They have been examining this idea for 9 months now. Is there already planning for this?

We have tons of clients with a handful of servers and maybe 1 or 2 sql light databases for a CRM or something similar.
Running full azure backup server to accomdate backup of a few small databases adds way too much overhead and is a barrier in the SMB market for sure .

Agree - very usufull if this was added. We have the same scenario where DPM is quite overkill for the job

Ability to Backup and Restore SQL with Azure Backup, without DPM/Backup Server is going to be a useful feature.

When servers are in Multiple locations, it is over killing and complexing to have multiple Azure Backup servers for only the purpose of SQL backups.

If Azure Backup Agent can do SQL along with File/Folder it would be great. Or else the backup solution doesn't look flexible
