seed backup without using an external drive
To be able to upload the data from an alternative site with has a much faster internet connection and upload speed without having to rely on configuring a drive to be shipped to Microsoft.

Great idea, as this is more of a service provider request relative votes will be low compared to other suggestions, but the impact could be great. Would be very useful for smaller deployments, I would still see multi TB uploads requiring a seed drive.
I totally agree. I understand that, with very large backups, shipping the physical drive could be the best way, but with small/mid-size backups of my customers, who have a very slow upload band, I'd prefer to take an image on an external drive and upload it later from my network.
Finding a compatible physical drive is not easy and quite expensive, I'm reluctant to push this kind of service with my customers cause I had a lot of troubles with initial seeding.
I'm convinced that MS should provide a wider range of options to spread adoption of Recovery Services on small Clients, even in countries where fiber connections are not easily available.
