  1. Email Notification & Alerts for Azure Backup

Azure backup needs to have active notifications & alerts (via email) on success/failure. It's important that administrators know their backup is running or failing.

  6. Add individual file/folder restore options

When backing up Virtual Machines it would be nice to be able to restore individual files and folders instead of the whole VM.

  7. Azure Backup to support IAAS VM Backups

Azure Backup supports On-premises Windows Servers Backup to Azure. Azure Backup should support IAAS VM Backups as well.

  8. Support for ARM Backup and Site Recovery vaults

Support for ARM Backup and Site Recovery vaults, as well as multiple vaults per workspace.
OMS only supports Classic (ASM) vaults, and it also supports only 1 Backup vault per OMS workspace, this sounds like a big limitation.

  9. Exclude Disks from VM Backup

Currently it's not possible to exclude Disks from a Hyper-V VM backup. (except using the Exclude Pagefile Disk workaround) to exclude single disks from the backup.

The possibility to exclude disks from a hyper-v vm backup would be a great improvement in case you've really large fileservers or other workloads where another backup mechanism is in place or you simply dont want a backup because of temp data etc.

  10. Cross Tenant Support For Azure Backup Reporting

The preview for Azure Backup Reporting only supports exporting data to a storage account in the same tenant. This means that MS partners cannot use the solution - in most cases each managed customer has their own tenant.

The alternative approach, creating multiple instances in Power BI and pinning duplicate reports to a single dashboard will not work.

Please make it possible to export RSV data to a storage account in another tenant, e.g. storage account name + access key.

  11. Azure backup of Azure IaaS VM to a different region

It would be ideal if we could push the Azure backup of our Azure IaaS Vms to a different region. This would give people a lot more peace of mind in the event of a datacentre failure.

  12. Support Windows Server 2016 for the Azure Backup Server software

Ridiculous that we can't install Azure Backup Server software on our new server!

  13. Able to backup Systemstate via Azure backup Agent (Without DPM)

I have seen similar idea's but I think the idea is not understand correctly.

We have a large environment with 200+ local sites all over the world with only 1 server per site. Most cases these are fileservers. with the backup agent it is possible to have a file backup but no system state backup. This means the server can't be fully restored in case of an disaster.
using DPM or Backup server will result in an extra server and kills the business case to use Azure backup completely.

So please is it possible to include DR, BMR (system state)…

  14. Azure Files Backup maximum retention increase

Currently Backup for Azure File shares only offers the ability to retain your daily backups up to 120 days. For compliance and continuity reasons the maximum retention range for Azure File Backup should be increased to mirror the retention range for Virtual Machines. Specifically: 9999 Daily, 9999 Weekly, 9999 Monthly, and 9999 Yearly.

  15. Improve performance for backing up volumes with large number of files

"Estimating size of back items" can take several hours to complete. I have over 1 million files and It has been 6 hours now (backing up from an Azure VM to Azure Backup) and checking Resource Monitor I can see that it is only about halfway through reading the list of files to be backed up. Meanwhile CPU, Disk, and Network utilization (no throttle set) are all far below max utilization.

I can only hope this is at least just a one-time process...? But still it is way to slow.

  16. Backup as a service for Azure Stack (a.k.a Backup resource provider)

We waited for a backup plugin for Windows Azure Pack, which never came. As a hosting service provider and a large enterprise with dfferent departments to cater, being able to provide backup as a service is key. Please bring this resource provider with GA of Azure stack please!

  17. Increase beyond the 1.65 TB backup limit per volume

We'd like to be able to backup much more than the currently possible 1.65 TB limit per volume. It is a pretty obvious request but let's gather some votes and see how big the need is.

  18. Script to migrate volumes of modern backup storage

In DPM 2012 it was as script "MigrateDatasourceDataFromDPM.ps1". Very useful to move data between disks. (I use many virtual disk as DPM storage)
There is nothing like this in DPM 2016 ! And I really need it, since we will migrate our physical infrastructure from VMWare to Hyper-V.

  19. Allow installation of Microsoft Azure Backup Server on Windows Server 2016

Currently you’re not able to use Windows Server 2016 as OS to deploy your Microsoft Azure Backup Server (MABS) on. For the moment the only supported servers OSs are Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 (R2) or Windows Server 2008 R2. It's not possible to install it on Windows Server 2016 because during the installation you get stopped by a missing component, namely the Single Instance Store (SIS) component.

  20. Ability to move Recovery Service Vault to different resource group

At the moment you can not move a Recovery Services Vault from one resource group to another.

I would like to see this feature added.
