I Like to see Longtime protection in Azure Backup or System Center Data Protection Manager for Office 365 Exchange, Sharepoint services. Because today you have to buy a third party solution. There are a lot of Educational institutes around the world in the free edition of Office365 on the Campus Agreement, but backup, restore services of Office 365 is a must have. Think about backup and restore mailboxes, teamsites of Sharepoint etc. Best Regards, James1,904 votes
We waited for a backup plugin for Windows Azure Pack, which never came. As a hosting service provider and a large enterprise with dfferent departments to cater, being able to provide backup as a service is key. Please bring this resource provider with GA of Azure stack please!198 votes
Moved to Azure Backup Forum.
Enable SQL database backup in MARS.
We would like to use MARS also to backup SQL databases.
Now we have to use DPM/MABS and that is overkill for only the backup.
We have around 180 servers with SQL databases spread over the world. And installing DPM on all these sites is overkill.
So we like to have the option to use MARS also for SQL database backup.158 votes
Pausing a large backup, particularly the initial Online backup, would have saved me 4-5 days vs. starting from scratch. Additionally, you can't throttle bandwidth while a backup is running. Pausing would should also allow a change in throttling.115 votes
Add support for some kind of storage tier in Azure Backup that moves older snapshot/backup copies from hot to cold storage.104 votes
For example - 15 minutes synchronization on work hours and 1 hrs synchonization after them.66 votes
Time taken by Consistency check jobs have been always a pain when it comes to enterprise level backups with huge Datasources and high amount of churn. i have seen CC jobs going for days failing and restarting. We can only expect the data to grow in future which calls for a better solution for these CC jobs60 votes
Suppose I was backing up drives C:, D:, E: and F: and I wanted to add exclusions for file types .flv, .mov, .mp3, .pst and .tmp. In the job configuration I have to manually add:
C: - .flv
C: - .mov
C: - .mp3
C: - .pst
C: - .tmp
D: - .flv
D: - .mov
D: - .mp3
D: - .pst
D: - .tmp
E: - .flv
F: - .tmp
Please add the option for global excludes across all drives!56 votes
I want to on-premises backup SQL DBs to Azure and test the sanity of the backup point by restoring it to an Azure IaaS VM which has SQL server installed in it36 votes
We have Azure Backup (MARS) deployed to 150+ servers across the globe and we would like to see a mechanism whereby we can make a global change across all servers e.g. Group Policy.
For example, we now need to add a file exclusion to every job on the 150+ servers and as far as I'm aware this means connecting to each server individually and making the change.28 votes
Currently we can change storage redundant type by using Azure portal, PowerShell or Azure CLI once we create Recovery Services Vault. Some customers usually deploy resources using ARM template, so they would like to set LRS as backup configuration by template as well. It would be great if we can set storage redundant type by template as we deploy Recovery Services Vault.25 votes
Allow users to label their Azure backups or restore points such that users can easily identify their backups and revert to restore points when needed17 votes

We would like to have the ability to backup "Azure Automation runbooks" with the Azure Backup service.16 votes
For planning and cost control it would be great to have statistics on the compression and churn rate for every ptotected source and at the vault level, if you don't hacve the time to expose them in the UI just give us a way to programmatically (webservice or POSH) access that information.15 votes
I want to save the cost of backup, and want to save from the disaster.
I want to backup my Azure Virtual Machines on West Japan region
to Azure Backup Vault on East Japan region.
and set the Azure Backup Vault's configure replication to LRS.13 votes
It looks like Azure Backup does not work with Volume Sizes that are higher than 1.7TB on Windows server 2008 R2 SP1. Many companies are still using Windows server 2008 out there and they would welcome this feature. Now it's available on Server 2012. Thanks.13 votes
In our main Azure instance we are backing up our on Prem VMs and our Cloud VMs. The concern is the Domain Admins have the ability to delete ALL our VMs both on Prem and in the Cloud and then proceed to delete the Azure Vault. We would like the ability to granularly control permission so that a user does not have the capability to Delete a Backup Vault. This doesn't appear to be a level control we can find within Azure without moving to a new Azure instance which adds other complications13 votes
