  1. Specify alert mail for Recovery Services vault Data deletion

Currently, when we delete Azure Backup data in Recovery Services vault, the alert Email will be received within the subscription range.
We want to specify this Email address. Because we can specify alert Email address, Email will not be sent to unrelated accounts on subscription.
And we can avoid the impact of sending information to accounts that don’t need alert emails due to security issues.

  2. http://aka.ms/MarsUnselectVolume link does not go anywhere

When selecting items to backup, the dialog box provides a (non-clickable) link to https://aka.ms/MarsUnselectVolume to "learn about the implications of not using Exclusion Settings for removing all items in a volume. This link resolves to a generic Microsoft page.

  3. Stop the HANA DB log backup from recovery services vault.

    Hi Team,

We are using azure backup to protect the HANA DB and when we stop the DB backup from vault it only stop the full scheduled backup not the log backup and due to this we get the log backup failure alerts when we bring down the DB. Could anyone suggest how we could stop the DB full backup along with Log backup so that we won't get the Log backup failure alerts.

    Thanks.

  4. Azure VPN gateway should support MARS agent backup

Currently, Azure VPN gateway only support IaaS service, like Azure VM. We hope Azure VPN gateway can support MARS agent backup.

  5. Allow multiple retention policies for different folders

You can only have one retention policy per server. I want to have a different backup job for a specific folder, that does not need daily backups and apply a different retention policy to it. This is not possible currently.

  6. Critical missing Features need to be added

    Hi,

There is few points im not sure how a big company like Microsoft missed to add it or ignoring adding them, which any basic backup software can do.

    1. Percentage of job completion should be added while backup job is running to have at least idea how long it will take or time estimation.

    2. if backup to Azure enabled, this data in Azure storage should be accessible in cloud like restoring the VM in cloud. if i m backing up 10 TB of data and i had a server crashed, its not connvinent to wait 1 year until i re…

  7. Make bandwidth throttling a universal setting

We can currently set bandwidth limits at each server we backup through the agent. It would be extremely helpful if we could set the limits through the portal, either universally (as in Azure backups consume that ammount of bandwidth as a whole service and distributes it evenly between active backups), or individually for each server but through a policy, so we do not have to login to each server and change the settings from the agent installed locally.

  8. A disappointing solution

Original French version as a result:

I've been working with the Azure backup server solution since November 2019. Despite the fact that I opened several tickets and lost a lot of hours of work, we never had a fully successful backup schedule. It's a shame, because the solution still costs us expensive in cloud storage. But we have the impression that every time a Technician at Microsoft plugs in, he improvises and tries registry keys and other patents.

For us, this solution is very disappointing and does not meet the quality standard that Microsoft should require of their solutions. Thank…

  9. Selectively delete backups, and choice to delete backups without 14 days retention

There are instances whereby we want a complete/selective deletion of backup data without the 14 days retention policy. Currently, when I choose to backup a particular folder on my server using the MARS agent, and decide that I want a complete wipe of that data from Azure, I have to stop the backup policy and wait for 14 days for total deletion. In-between these 14 days, I'm stuck without an option to backup to Azure if I require a clean slate.

  10. Backup a Replicated machine and be able to restore files.

Having servers under the replicated items should mean the entire server is there. Can't this be archived or have a snapshot that turns this into a backup that can have file restore and server restore features performed at certain intervals like hourly, daily, weekly, monthly such as a normal backup? This should replace MABS since it is much more streamlined anyway.

  11. When there is a problem with the backup target file, skip and backup other files. Also, please implement a detailed log that can be confirme

Normally, files locked by other applications are skipped, backups are taken, and skipped files are written in the log.
However, other than the above cases (such as file corruption), the backup job stuck and an Issue occurred that the backup did not end. (In this case it was Active for over a week)
If backup does not progress due to file check etc. for a certain period of time, please skip the backup of the corresponding file, and please implement "detailed log" is kept as to "which file" and "reason".
Also, since skipped files can currently only be checked on…

  12. Fix SFC

Please could you fix "sfc.exe" or remove the "sfc /verifyonly" from the MARS backup process? Currently on all versions of Windows tested (Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10, Windows Server 2019) this command generates 4000+ files per execution in "C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp*" which results in continually slower backups as these files are generated and never deleted. Furthermore all of the clean up processes regarding these folders that are documented in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/clean-up-the-winsxs-folder do not work out of the box, the only processes we have found that can clean up thse files can be found at https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/cbeea1a1-77da-4e0e-a357-f36be1a60f16/when-to-the-files-in-cwindowswinsxstemppendingrenames-get-processed , which in summation is effectively install…

  13. Add MAB (MARS) support to Get-AzRecoveryServicesBackupJob

"Get Jobs cmdlet doesn't support MAB workloads. Even though the APIs support it, but the PowerShell module only supports AzureVM, AzureFiles, and AzureWorkload today."

    Please add support.

  14. Can we get powershell commands to retrieve failed status of Azure file and folder backup so that we can automate it for our monthly report

Can we get powershell commands to retrieve failed status of Azure file and folder backups on VM's so that we can automate it for our monthly audit reports similar to VM backup failure status

  15. "MARS Agent backup time reduction performance"

MARS Agent backup time is delayed There are many problems. Many of the causes are processing time before data transfer. I think This can be a take snapshot, checksum process, and queue time. If the performance before data transfer improves, I think that one of the problems of delay in backup time will be solved.

  16. Recovery Services vault services not sent any alert to user when MARS agent server is down or not reachable

Customer not receiving alerts when backup is not available when Server is down or not reachable. No alerts sent to user where MARS agent registered with vault and suddenly backup stopped working since 10 days and customer come to know server is also down. We don't have information why backup is not triggered.

  17. After changing the backup schedule, the past backup data has been lost.

In the MARS backup, if you change the daily schedule to Weekly Schedule, all previous points marked as 'Daily Points' are deleted after updating the policy.
At this time, there is no warning screen.
For example, schedule Daily & 365 days retention to Weekly & 53 weeks retention.

    Warnings should be displayed!!

  18. Allow for editing a MARS backup schedule from the Azure Portal

At present it is not possible to edit a backup schedule of a MARS-protected server from the Azure Portal - it must be done on-premise. This is not ideal for a number of reasons, chiefly that either remote or physical access is required in order to edit something as simple as a backup schedule or which folders are protected.

  19. Forecast on Selected Items To Backup in the Schedule Backup Wizard

    Hi Azure Microsoft Team

Highly appreciate if you can calculate or forecast the amount of storage size on the selected items to backup in the Schedule Backup Wizard Interface so that we can determine the file size storage are being backup rather than after the backup job success.

It will be another awesome feature to be added.

    Thank you

  20. Separate backup jobs within MARS Agent

Separate backup jobs within MARS Agent. Currently, there is only one backup job that can be created within the MARS Agent. We should have the ability to create several different jobs with various schedules and data sets to back up. Not all data can be backed up at the same time. It would also make it a bit easier to restore as in not having to mount the VHDX file that stores all the data sets backed up.
