[Azure Backup] Want to specify Backup Schedule Policy of Azure VM Backup at "local time" using Azure PowerShell
At present, backup schedule of backup policy using Azure PowerShell, we need to specify the "time", "time zone" in UTC.
Therefore, please add the function to be able to specify the "local time" (UTC + N) using Azure PowerShell.

Even with encrypted VM, VM can be restored by "Replace Disk".
Currently, encrypted VMs are not eligible for "Replace Disk" as described in the following public information.
Title: Restore Azure VMs
Address: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-arm-restore-vms
Replace existing is supported for unmanaged managed VMs. It is not supported for unmanaged disks, generalized VMs, or for VMs created using custom images.
From the security point of view as well, it is possible that the number of encrypted VMs will increase in the future, so there is a need for an easier recovery method.
Currently, encrypted VMs can only be restored from "disk restores". We should also implement VM restoration with "disk replacement" of encrypted VMs.

Add QoS function to SQL in a VM backup
During the Azure SQL backup of an VM, disk latency is extremely high and overloads the VM causing applications to fail. Suggested solution to resize the VM or to scatter the backup do not work. Please add a QoS function to the Azure SQL Backup to limit the load during the backup

After changing the backup schedule, the past backup data has been lost.
In the MARS backup, if you change the daily schedule to Weekly Schedule, all previous points marked as 'Daily Points' are deleted after updating the policy.
At this time, there is no warning screen.
For example, schedule Daily & 365 days retention to Weekly & 53 weeks retention.Warnings should be displayed!!

In MARS agent Recover Data Wizard, make full content of "Select the Volume" readable
In the MARS agent's Recover Data Wizard, on the "Select Volume and Date" step, there is a drop-down box that says "Select the Volume:". As you can see in the attached screencap, the field is too short to read the volume names when they all start out exactly the same.
It would be nice if there was some way to see the full text. It would be nice to get something like a tooltip containing the full volume name when you highlight/hover one of the volume choices.
As it is now, I cannot distinguish any of my volumes from another,…

Azure VM Backup in Different Azure subscription within the same region
Why we cannot protect an Azure VM running in Subscription A to a Recovery Services Vaults based in Subscription B. Both (VM/RSV) are in the same region.
This is very important scenario. For example, we want to have a dedicated subscription for backup only, and we want to organize backup cost per subscription, etc.
In large organizations, the backup operators are not the same who operate the VMs. From a security standpoint, we want to separate operations tasks with different subscriptions.
Thank You!

Setting a storage redundant type by Azure Resource Manager template
Currently we can change storage redundant type by using Azure portal, PowerShell or Azure CLI once we create Recovery Services Vault. Some customers usually deploy resources using ARM template, so they would like to set LRS as backup configuration by template as well. It would be great if we can set storage redundant type by template as we deploy Recovery Services Vault.

More accurate status information
Currently the MARS client has limited categories for it's activity - ie, 'preparing storage', 'transferring data', etc.
What would be more useful is an actual account of what it's doing. For instance, a previous inconsistent backup will lead to the next backup sitting in 'transferring data' when it's actually checking consistency. More information is needed!

Recovery Services: Allow restoring individual VHDs from restore point
Currently Recovery Services "Restore disks" restores all disks. It would be great if you could only restore selected individual disks.
E.g., right now I'm waiting for 128+50+1023 GB VHDs of a single VM being restored, and I wouldn't need the 1023GB one, so I have plenty of time to write this suggestion :)

Recovery point pruning for "Stop protection and retain backup data" option
When "Stop protection and retain backup data" option is selected all the recovery points are kept until the data is manually deleted.
Need the ability for the recovery points to be pruned according to the retention in the backup policy. This allows the "Stop protection and retain backup data" option to be selected before deleting a VM safe in the knowledge that backup data will be retained for the configured retention period.

move or target backups to a new vault without having to delete all recovery points
We should have the ability to move backup recovery points between vaults or at least target them to a new vault without having to delete all existing recovery points. Right now if we want future backups to go to a new vault (many reasons, for example Power BI reporting) we have to delete all existing recovery point history for that VM, go for a period of time with no backups, and then set it up again. We should be able to retain existing recovery points while using a new vault and building up history.

seed backup without using an external drive
To be able to upload the data from an alternative site with has a much faster internet connection and upload speed without having to rely on configuring a drive to be shipped to Microsoft.

Would love to see Azure Backup support for DNS zones
Would be great to be able to backup and restore my DNS zones. As with the file shares preview, it needs to be able to detect un-backed-up zones easily and apply backup policy across all my zones (e.g. at RG or Subscription level). Need to be able to browse individual DNS records for restore (I might just need to restore one, not the whole zone)

Make Offline Seed Backup A One Step Process - Why Stage It First?
When you want to seed your initial backup using the Azure Import Service you have to do a backup to a disk first (obviously). However, this is a 2 step process:
1 - The backup is done to a Staging area
2 - The backup is then copied to the disk you want to ship to MicrosoftWhy do we have to stage the backup first? Why can't the backup be done straight to the disk you want to send to Microsoft?
When you are working with terabytes of data this is very time consuming.

Make System State Backup Incremental
Can we make the backup of the System State incremental? We have several remote sites with very poor WAN links and although the incremental user data change is relatively small, the weekly System State backups range from 12-15 GB which run over a weekend and into the working week impacting the WAN link severely.

Restore managed disk VMs without Storage Account for staging
Currently, we should specify the Storage Account for staging purpose to restore the VMs with managed disk.
But the advantage of the managed disk is that we don't have to inform and control storage account permissions for the end users. The required RBAC permission for this operation is Storage Account Contributor which means the restore operator can perform anything for the storage account.
This prevents the customer from being free from Storage Account management.22 votes -
Azure Backup Client should support the metered connection flag a network connection
There should be setting in the Azure Backup Client that allow the user to decide if they want the backup to run when the network connection shows that it is on a metered connection.
