  1. In cases of an Ad-Hoc backup (versus a scheduled one) - I would like to type in a description of why the ad-hoc was taken

I use Azure recovery extensively for lab testing. Having a simple label associated with ad-hoc backup would be very useful.

  2. Enable Full Backup/Bare Metal Recovery with Azure Backup Standalone (no DPM)

Enhance Azure Backup to be able to support Bare Metal Recovery, Full Image backups.

NOTE: This is without the use/requirement of DPM.
Please refer to the following UserVoice suggestion: https://feedback.azure.com/forums/258995-azure-backup-and-scdpm/suggestions/6874594-bmr-thru-azure-backup#{togglepreviousstatuses}.

Currently there is support available for backing up System State using just the MARS Agent to recover to the same/similar hardware in case of server or software malfunction.

We wanted to understand the scenarios where a full server recovery cannot be achieved using Azure Site Recovery. Please share your feedback so we can review and plan this accordingly.

  3. Segregation of Duties / Restrict ability to DELETE Backup Vault

In our main Azure instance we are backing up our on Prem VMs and our Cloud VMs. The concern is the Domain Admins have the ability to delete ALL our VMs both on Prem and in the Cloud and then proceed to delete the Azure Vault. We would like the ability to granularly control permission so that a user does not have the capability to Delete a Backup Vault. This doesn't appear to be a level control we can find within Azure without moving to a new Azure instance which adds other complications

  4. Offer a cloudberry style software for backup

Cloud Berry offers a great solution, but why can't you offer something similar at no cost for clients to use your service

  5. Seeding a large Azure Backup Server restore using export service

We can seed initial backup to Azure backup Vault using the import service but we cannot seed a large restore using the Export service. Restoring a large volume of data could take several days or even weeks!

  6. Detailed usage report showned in both OMS and Azure Backup

I would like to see a drill down usage report and diagram for Azure Backup. I would also be nice to see the level of compression (DeDupe) that is done within the cloud on the backup storage.

This will provide better insight into customers usage at a detailed level for each virtual machine or disk level

  8. workstation backup : ability to have no planned backup, but can use "save now" option when I want

    Hi,
In the current version of the workstation agent, we must have a minimum of one policy, and here I mean with a specific time to be executed. I noticed that if my machine is down (let's say supposed to backup at noon), and if I turn it on 2 hours later backup will start while I am working
that would be fantastic to have a policy, but not force any specific time to be executed. Then, when I want, just need to click the "save now" button, with no impact on my work and if home no impact on…

  9. Support restoring while retaining original VHD filenames

Azure VM level backups rename the source vhd into a random filename. When we restore VM from backup, the new VM doesn't retain the original names. We have a use case where we would like to use RM templates to deploy replica dev/test environments from Prod backups. Currently that is not possible without a lot of coding to parse the backup xml file to identify which vhds are assigned to which LUNs. Is there a better way to implement this use case or is there a feature in planning to allow us to retain original filenames?

  11. Backup Reporting and Notifications

Please provide a central location to view comprehensive backup success/failure logs and the ability to generate reports, spanning multiple backup vaults and regions. Ability to customise email notifications as well.

  12. on-demand backup to keep a seperate copy, along with shceduled VM backup retention

there should be an option to do on-demand backup as well, even though there is a scheduled backup of VM there. this would be helpful to recover the VM to desired state , even though corresponding scheduled VM backup is lost after retention period.

  13. Better error messages in recovery services

    I'm getting error messages like:

Please retry the operation in a few minutes. If the problem persists, contact Microsoft Support.

Trying to create a support ticket isn't possible because you need to pay for support, even for internal errors... An already paying customer shouldn't need to pay for support when Microsoft didn't implement correct and meaningful error messages, especially not when it says 'internal' error...

Something like this shouldn't be on UserVoice it shouldn't be needed to vote on, it's standard...

  15. Could you please let me know, if the vm is in affinity group can we add to recovery service and it will take a successful backup for VM

Could you please let me know, if the vm is in affinity group can we add to recovery service and it will take a successful backup for VM ? Because this limitation is added in limitations?

  16. Snapshot backup at VHD level

There is an option to take snapshot backup in AWS which will take VHD level backup like wise in Azure, there is no option to take root drive backup. It would be better if we have snapshot backup at VHD level (root drive), because it is really helpful when we plan for patching activity for Windows VMs

  17. backup

I tested Azure a year ago and was very disappointed because your tutorials were never up-to-date and the portal was slow.

So I return after a year and altough the portal is a little bit quicker, the tutorials are still laughable and the instructions never line up with what I see in the portal.

I've spent an hour trying to find the Azure Online Backup feature, it should be in "Recovery Services" but of course there's no such thing in the portal I see at least. And this Windows Azure Online Backup Agent that you're talking about is nowhere to…

  18. Coordinated Multi-VM Backups

Multi-VM systems like SharePoint really need the same effect as Consistency Groups on a SAN. VMware (sorry, I forget the specific name of the tech) has the ability to take VSS-quiesced VM snapshots on multiple VMs in conjunction with a Consistency Group (LUN) snapshot on the SAN. This is an important foundation of their SRM product, since it provides app-consistent snapshots of all servers in the consistency group at the exact same point in time. If we can get multiple VMs VSS-quiesced at the same point in time, then that would be ideal. It would provide a compelling reason to…

  19. Add better logs to Windows Azure Backup Manager

When a warning is raised in the Event Log, the associated Details tab contains very little information. For example, I am getting Error code 1073841907. What does it mean, where can I look it up?
The logs (.Errlog) are even more cryptic. Add a decent log, not something that is useful only to the product team.

  20. Comments tab on the protected Items page

We have a situation where we are looking at backing up servers from multiple schools.

The problem is most our schools servers are all called the same, for example "schserv01"

When installing the backup agent and it is then registered and protected in Azure, we have multiple servers all showing up with the same name "schserv01" Now we do not know which one is for which school...

We can't rename the server, So would it be possible to have a comments section on the protected items page within the portal, that way we could comment which each server is. Better…
