StorSimple
Microsoft Azure StorSimple Manager allows you to centrally manage all your StorSimple devices from Azure Portal. It provides the ability to configure and monitor devices, provision storage, setup backup and recovery to any other managed device with a simple to use interface.

Allow modification of Backup retention on StorSimple Virtual 1200
Currently an automatic backup happens every day at a time you select and kept for roughly 10 years. this could create an awful lot of data in Azure that you don't need and don't want to pay for.
Please allow Backup policy modifications.119 votes -
Add SMB shares to physical appliances
A lot of companies don't want to introduce iSCSI to their network infrastructure, making StorSimple really hard to sell. They like the idea for fileservers, and appreciate the redundancy a physical device can deliver.
Basically they're looking for StorSimple Virtual Array functionality, in the physical appliances: SMB Shares101 votes -
Support clustering of StorSimple appliances
Allow multiple StorSimple appliances to be clustered (use an IB link or something between them to keep data in sync) for automatic failover in the event the primary node fails or needs to be taken offline.

Ability to resize the virtual disk on the StorSimple Virtual Array 1200
Currently once you have created the 1200 you can't resize the underlying virtual disk which is very limiting. You would have to delete the whole array and recover to a new one.

Allow resizing of shares on StorSimple Virtual Array 1200
Currently once a share is created it cannot be be made larger even if there is free space on the array/cloud.
If a share fills up you have to create a whole new share and redirect users which is very inconvenient.

Increase the maximum number of files per share and per virtual array
1 Million files per share MAX limit is not realistic for shares that can be up to 20TB in size. 1 Million files isn't enough to accommodate your average file share on a file server.
Also, 4 Million files per StorSimple Virtual Array is also extremely limiting.
It would be very useful of these limits were raised significantly.

Support StorSimple Virtual Appliance in ARM Virtual Network
Currently the StorSimple Virtual Applicances 8010 and 8020 only support ASM Virtual Network but that's not the way to go forward. This limitation requires me to setup a VNet-to-VNet gateway.

Support running StorSimple Virtual Array as Azure VM
This request is not for disaster recovery like SSCA does.
I want to use brand-new SSVA as Azure VM to build mid size of file server on my Azure virtual network.
As you know, Azure VM just support 1023GB x N size of attached storage and we can scale N to max 64 but we need G5 or GS5. It is so expensive. If I can use SSVA on DS3 or D3, for example, I can build max 64TB (one volume or file share limit to 20TB) file server or iSCSI storage and also backup and recovery is very easy.…

Manage StorSimple appliances from new Azure portal
The old StorSimple manager in the classic portal lacks the ability to easily perform certain functions. Such as a custom name for your backup policies, custom reports etc. The user experience is poor.

Ability to restore individual files without having to use VSS or mounting of a snapshot. Would improve the experience especially when one of SS main sales pitch is File Server data.

Allow physical StorSimple appliances for CSP subscriptions
My understanding is that currently, StorSimple physical appliances can only be used on an EA subscription. As a Direct CSP, my company is helping a lot of customers migrate from EA to CSP because of all the value added capabilities with CSP vs EA. The problem is that if a customer has a physical StorSimple device (which means they have to be on an Azure EA subscription), we cannot even connect that physical applicance to a CSP subscription - even if we could, there is no way to migrate the StorSimple data from one subscription to another.
So, what I'm…

StorSimple as Virtual Tape Library
As written here http://feedback.azure.com/forums/258995-azure-backup-and-scdpm/suggestions/6831679-storsimple (sorry for cross-posting) I think the StorSimple Device is perfectly suited to act as a Virtual Tape Library i. e. for DPM.
Maybe something for future releases.33 votes -
Command to test the network transfer rate.
A command would be interesting to validate the transfer rate of files to the internet.

Support an automatic lazy write to Azure
The StorSimple appliances should be able to automatically support a lazy write to Azure for all data changing on the appliance. This would help protect data in a more timely manner than a cloud snapshot.

StorSimple as WORM Storage
One customer of me asked if it is possible to save data in a way that the saved data is audit compliant (change of data written to StorSimple not possible, i. e. for accounting data). Actually 3rd party software needed.
Maybe an option for a future release.
