    Hi-

Thanks for the suggestion, We are following up with the parties responsible for these features.

    Thanks!

  2. Azure Pack Backup

Similar to azure backup for DPM but as a service that can be offered in Azure Pack so that customers can backup their data from DPM to the hosting providers Azure Pack service.

Also include an agent that can be installed directly onto a customer machine that can backup directly to the hosters backup portal (so that they are not bound to DPM in the case of smaller customers that may not require DPM).

Azure pack should offer offsite DPM cloud storage or offsite client cloud backup storage for client machines (e.g. protect bare metal, my documents, my pictures or…

    Hi-

Thank you for the suggestion- we have no active investigation but when resources become available we will take a look at this scenario.

    Thanks!

  5. Allow full DNS management

Allow full DNS management for hosters who have DNS servers but also allow the same features via godaddy and such external DNS management providers.

Admin portal to register and manage whilst user as a service can also add A and MX records etc.

While not on the short term roadmap, this is something we will look into bringing to the Web Sites provider in the future.

    1 comment  ·  Reseller  ·  Flag idea as inappropriate…  ·  Admin →

Thank you for your suggestion! As part of an update release this year, we added functionality to WAP to allow for multiple custom themes to support reseller scenarios. There is more that can be added, though, to support this scenario. It would be helpful to hear from you all who voted on this feature about the reseller scenarios you are trying to support to help inform us when making design choices.

  7. Provide a Windows Authenitcation site for the Tenant Site

The tenants now authenticate against a SQL .Net Membership provider. An AD authentication site similar as for the Admin Site would fit certain scenario's where ADFS is not an option

Thanks for the feedback, It’s great to see the comments with the different scenarios as well. We know this is important to some customers, and we are definitely looking into it!

  9. SMA Runbook concurrency

The ability to set concurrency limits for individual runbooks would very useful (like Orchestrator).

Example use/case: Querying AD for the next free SamAccountName and creating an AD user. If two runbooks which would result in the same SamAccountName being provided are started at the same time one of them will fail. A maximum concurrency of 1 would solve this.

I've tried solving this with code in various ways, but have found no reliable way.

Thanks for the feedback on this. We can investigate adding this functionality.

  10. Add all Azure services to Azure Pack

Azure Pack should bring a complete symmetry for on-promises private and partner clouds in regards to Azure public cloud.

That’s what we strive towards: a consistent experience! What would you say are the services you are most anxious to see come on-premises first?

  11. Manage AzurePack from VisualStudio Server Explorer (Like Azure)

To be able to manage individual services in Azure Pack via the Server Explorer in Visual Studio just as if it was like the public Azure solution.

  12. WAP/SMA - Scheduled Task Frequency - Add Hours and Minutes options

At present it only seems possible to schedule 'one time' or 'daily' for the frequency for runbooks.

Proposal : Add options for hours and minutes
Justifcation : (1) Many of our scripts need to run on a more frequent basis, such as scanning ftp file drop locations for new files and processing them accordingly. The limitation of this at the moment restricts our ability to use these.
    (2) Dependancy on Orchestrator restricts full migration to SMA, adds additional development time and testing.

Current workaround : Make an Orchestrator runbook with a timer which calls the SMA runbook(s).

Just to confirm, you are looking for two additional frequencies: hour and minute. Our team can look into this.

Yes – you can have a monitor/long running runbook that triggers other runbooks on a timer as a workaround for the moment.

  13. Translate to other languages

Include other languages, such as PT-PT, or document a way to extend the base product with other translations.

  14. Maintenance Mode for SMA workers

Allow me to put a worker into 'maintenance mode’
Drain off all running jobs. If job type is workflow stop at the next checkpoint instead of running until drain time is reached and ‘hard’ stopping
Update the load balancing algorithm to incorporate a heartbeat idea. If a worker is not online don't put new jobs into its partition of the jobs table

Thanks for the feedback! Having this functionality would definitely help in the case a worker goes down or needs to be restarted. We will take this into consideration.

  16. Allow configuration of a GRE Site-to-Site VPN in the Networking Virtualization Resource provider from the tenant site

Since SCVMM 2012 R2 Update Rollup 5, administrators can create a GRE based Site-to-Site VPN tunnel.

However in the current Azure Pack Update Rollups, the tenant can't create a GRE based site-to-site VPN tunnel in the portal. Currently if a S2S tunnel is created, the Network Virtualization resource provider defaults to an IKEv2 based tunnel which not many routing equipment out there supports out of the box.

  18. Support hide parts of Tenant Portal

Support hiding by configuration of sections such as:
    a) My account
    b) VM Function role
    others.

This is important when developing generic hosting services on the internet.

    Hi-

Thank you for the suggestion. We are unable to accommodate this in Azure Pack, but similar functionality is being investigated for Azure Stack.

    Thanks!

  19. Add Network Security Groups feature from Microsoft Azure to WAP

In Microsoft Azure we have the awesome feature called Network Security Groups which allows us to specify port ACL's on either VM or subnet level. This is possible using Hyper-V Port ACLs (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn375962.aspx) but requires interaction from the service provider or a lot of scripting and integration with, for example, Service Manager.
Would be much better to expose this configuration to the tenants, possibly via Tenant Public API as far from everyone is using Service Manager. It might require the feature to be supported by VMM first, but I know there is a uservoice on the VMM page…

  20. Ability to assign AD Groups/Users to Plans and Various Other Elements to WAP

It would be nice to be able to assign AD Users and or Groups to Plans in Azure Pack. Instead of just limiting access to the whole portal via a STS provider. That way we could re-use the same portal for various solutions internally, by utilizing Plans that are locked down to a certain subset of users in the organization.
