  3. Database naming convention to prevent duplicate error

Add a prefix or Unique Identifier in front of database to avoid creation failures of databases with name that already exists

Thank you for your feedback! We understand this limitation of the databases resource provider and certainly would like to make this experience better for our users!

  4. CSV support in SMA

SMA runbooks need proper support for versioning (git or similar) so that they can be properly handled as source code.

  5. Applications : Develop User and Application Provisioning Templates

Windows Azure Pack would really come into it's own if it starts to make available templates (ideally customisable) for deployment of applications and services. Applications like Dynamics AX, NAV, and others would really benefit from this. Similarly with user management.

Reason : At the moment, there doesnt appear to be any comparable MS option to Citric's Cloud Portal product, where they have templates in place for deployment of things like Office 365, CRM, and other server apps.

  6. Hierachical tenants

Allow defining of tenant hierarchies and setting of resource allocation quotas per tenant. Each sub-tenant within parent tenant to be able to set resource allocation quotas within the limits of parent tenant quota. Types of quota: CPU, HDD, RAM, Network, etc.

Thank you for the suggestion! This would certainly be an interesting feature and is something we are taking into consideration. Is this feature to enable some sort of reselling scenario where the tenant would be setting resource allocation quotas within the limits of the parent quota so that they could re-offer the quota to another tenant?

  9. Improve scaling of Azure Pack

Allow Azure pack to manage more resources across multiple datacenters. Having multiple Azure Pack deployments breaks the cloud paradigm.

  11. Add NLB capabilities to the Virtual Network Gateway

When creating a Rule/Endpoint would be great to choose multiple internal targets and traffic distribution algorithm. Would be simple way to get HA/LB for a farm of VMs

  13. Index JobStreams Table

Out of the box the JobStreams table does not have an index for JobID and TenantID. The result is that Get-SMAJobOutput and the web portal can get quite easily bogged down. Even with job history set to the standard 30 days and process/debug logging off, this table can get quite large on a busy environment. Simply indexing this table drastically improves the overall performance of SMA. I had a few runbooks with process monitoring turned on and the table reached over 17 million rows (at which point I couldn't get any output from SMA)

In my environment, I created the…

  16. Friendly Logging in the WAP UI

Please update the UI for more friendly logging. Would be great to have the following: A more concise view, similar to Windows server event log UI with filters, etc. but within the WAP UI. A CSV(etc.) export function would be helpful (with filters applied of course). Holistic, segmented logging, i.e. see multiple components in the WAP logging UI, color-code the different component source providers and have the ability to set the refresh and filters. Maybe allowing an extension to write third-party log info into the UI from the application via system center or windows server nodes. As more IT Pros…

Thanks for the feedback! We are working to improve how we log and present information to the user. These suggestions are helpful and we would like to hear more if you have them!

  17. Only allow user from tenant site create VM using Request Management function

I found something interesting about VM creation and request management(using Gridpro software):
For example, if a user has a subscription and this subscription has VM clouds service, then this user can bypass request process and go directly create VM from the menu at the left bottom.
Is there a way that we can prevent user to create VM through this and only allow user to create VM through request process ?
I suggest Microsoft provide a function that admin can hide the menu for tenant users. therefore, user can only create VM through request management function only.

Thank you for your feedback! One workaround would be to setup a script that runs on the SPF event to intervene with the VM creation when it comes from the portal, but we plan to review the idea of hiding these elements from the Tenant UIs or in some other way helping you to achieve this scenario.

  18. Collaboration Suite

Merge WAP with Collaboration Suite (Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, etc)

WAP could be the web front end of all MS products. Why not?

  19. Provide load balancing information during installation/configuration

Provide load balancing information during installation/configuration

Currently, the only way to configure load balancing of components with an external load balancer in Azure Pack is to use Powershell only after WAP installation and configuration. It would be great to specify FQDNs and URI's during the config phase and would be even greater to be able to specify ports.

Thank you for the suggestion. We will look into improving the configuration experience for WAP and adding these options.

  20. Add tagging for variables/credentials and connection for central management in multi-tier SMA environment

This is a scenario that came up recently thinking about multi-tier SMA environments. Where one have different AD's isolated from each other, but wanting a central master SMA orchestrator.

As for Runbooks where one can use tags as a means to target and distribute the code to different SMA installations downstream. This would also be nice to have for assets types, as this would allow a similar distribution scenario. Enabling having a (HA) central SMA installation where all assets are maintained.

Even better would be a scenario where one could figure out how to allow for assets with the same…

    Thanks for this suggestion!

Would creating accounts that can group runbooks and assets solve this? If you look at Azure Automation, we allow users to create accounts which should enable what you are talking about.
