Automated backup for APIM
Provide automated and manual backup feature something similar to what we have in Azure Web Apps (
Dan Rogers commented
A backup that expires silently 30 days after it is made is not useful for disaster recovery. Just saying.
No movement on this?
Will a better backup solution be added to the portal?
I think there still needs to be an easier option that backs up the hole thing with users and configuration. The documentation for setting up AD and and using the repository and everything is very convoluted and cumbersome to set up.

The approach is too hard- call some api, instead of pressing the button on a portal.

There's a new feature just been released to Preview called "Configuration repository" (found under a tab in the "Security" page of the API Management section of the Publisher Portal). This enables you to make snapshots of config (developer and API) to an internal Git repo (which you can also pull from and push to). It even supports branches.
Might this mechanism be sufficient to service your need? (Actually. no, I just realised it's only config - it would not backup / restore user accounts etc). Shame. :(

Simple enough to implement this; so makes sense that it should also be provided via the portal - especially for companies who don't want to open up the gateway API.

Simplify the mechanism to backup and restore the features of the API Management and specifically the developer portal.
The current approach is: http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/api-management-howto-disaster-recovery-backup-restore/ - could this be offered through the API admin portal itself to enable backing up and restoring?
