  1. Log custom traces to Application Insights

Provide a policy to log custom traces to Azure Application Insights, similar to the log-to-eventhub policy.

  3. Describe what a member is and must have

Describe what restrictions are put on members. Must member be users with accounts in some local active directory? Are members just strings so any name can be entered?

  4. Allow to filter/select operations when adding a new API from a OpenAPI spec

Currently, if you need to create/update an API from an OpenAPI spec with only a small subset of the whole list of operations supported by your backend, you will need to edit the generated spec to remove all the operations/types not required which is boring and error prone, or import all of them and remove all the undesired ones one-by-one, which makes our lives sad and miserable..
A simple UI which allows to filter/select the specific operations we need to import/update would be awesome!!

  5. Having the ability to

Having the ability to see which ciphers are active within the APIM. At the moment you can disable 3DES in the Portal and 9 other ciphers using a PATCH/PUT command but you cannot see which ciphers are actually active anywhere.

  6. List and operation all the products for the Groups(Administrators, Developers, etc)

We are able to find out which groups the product belongs to in product blade, However, if we could find the products in Groups blade and operation(add, remove) in batch, it's will be much better. sorting is also needed for Groups blade if product is integreted.

  7. Soap to Rest - Better error details

Give better error description when the import process from WSDL to REST fails.
At present time the error is quite generic and only give us the last xml node processed with success, leaving us to a painful try and error approach to why the import did not work.
It would be nice to have more detail about the error, for instance the line number in the WSDL, the type of error detected (recursion, etc).

  9. Enhance transformation policies to support formats such as csv, xlsx, etc.

It is common to be requested to export data from the API queries to a format that can be shared and easy readable by other non-tech people. So i would say it would be good to be able to enhance the transformation policies to transform from JSON to CSV or XLS/XLSX. Or at least provide an option to export results to these formats on the API Management querying experience.

  10. Increase password strength for basic user accounts

    Basic user accounts can be created via;
    1. Admin portal (minimum password length=6)
    2. Self registration page (minimum password length=8).
No other rule applies i.e. very poor password strength.

When possible, we definitely use AAD.
For cases where we can not use AAD the Azure PaaS Developer Support Team has recommended us to use Facebook, Google, Microsoft or Twitter accounts...

    Please, provide UI page where Admin can design password policy by choosing;
    - Minimum password length. [Default=8?].
    - English upper case letters (e.g., A, B, C, ...Z). [Checkbox True|False].
    - English lower case letters (e.g., a, b, c, ...z). [Checkbox…

  11. Consumption Plan DevOps

Currently consumption plan services are not discoverable via resource explorer this will impact the ability to automate the deployment of apis between API Management instances

This is important if the consumption plan is to be used a lead into higher level SKUs especially as there is no upgrade option from consumption to higher level skus.

  12. Search by keywords across all APIs in a APIM instance

It would be great if we can search for a particular keyword across all operations in all APIs of a particular APIM instance in a subscription.
Say, I would like to search if a particular operation is called within the other operations of the APIM instance, I should be able to search based on a keyword that lists out all the instances where this is referenced.

  13. More detailed metrics for Azure API Management service.

Currently the 'Capacity' metric for the Azure API Management service only supports an aggregation type of of 'Average'.

WIth the ability to calculate the capacity to a percentage, it would be very beneficial to have an alternate metric or second aggregation type for 'Maximum' for the capacity metric to show at a glance what remaining availability is.

  14. Add support for custom user attributes

It would be nice to add support for extending the user attributes beyond the basics in place now of name, email, etc. In cases where the user is associated to a downstream (back-end) entity that is identified differently from any of the existing fields, there isn't a way to do this without corrupting the "Notes" fields. It would be nice if Administrators can extend the user schema to contain custom attributes that can be fetched from within policies.

  15. Consumption tier of Azure API Management

You can now choose the new Consumption tier (in select regions) when you are creating a new API Management instance. Consumption tier, a variant of API Management designed and implemented around serverless principles is a more organic fit for applications built using serverless technologies. See https://aka.ms/apimconsumptionblog for detailed information about this new tier, it's features and limits.

For the general availability release we plan to add the following capabilities:

    • Custom hostnames

    • Client certificate authentication

    • Azure Monitor metrics

    • Automated upgrade to other tiers

    • .NET SDK and PowerShell support

    • Faster activation

    • Additional public regions

  16. fix erroneous catching of protocol violation errors

When an API (wrongly) return a response body and a "204 No content" return code, a "500 protocol violation error" should be raised by APIM instance.
In fact it is the case, but the protocol violation error is raised as a response on the call folowing the erroneous "204" API, not the erroneous API itself. The error is raised only the following call (whatever API it is) that is implemented on the same backend of the "204" API AND if the folowing call is made in the same HTTP session (I mean during the http "keep alive" timeout).
    This bug…

  19. Add a "go to on-error" policy

The policy should transition control flow to the "on-error" section and be customizable with error details.

  20. GraphQL introspective support within API Management

Like swagger documents which describe REST endpoints, we would like to surface graphql queries and mutable schemas and types through the Developer portal.
