  1. Have a disable option on a Resource Group Lock

Have the ability to disable the lock, delete and recreate the VNET on the resource group and re-enable the lock without deleting it first.

  2. Include part numbers in VM lists to allow for mataching to pricelists.

Include part numbers in VM lists to allow for matching to pricelists.

I find the names used in the portal don't always match the names used within the price sheets so data matching is a manual process. An example being Basic_A4 in the portal but it is called Basic.A4 in the price list. There are lots of examples like this. Using the part number is definitive.

  3. Find resources that are not in use and/or find relationships between resources.

We have a lot of resources in our Azure portal as a result of testing & trials. Now that we are going into production, it is difficult to discern which resources are not being used any more because their virtual machines have been deleted, etc. Would also be nice to be able to select a resource and see "associated resources" from there.

  4. Use a standard menu for all resource features and config

Make sure all features and configuration options for a resource are available via a single, standardized menu. Use the blade for monitoring and the menu for everything else. Everything should be easy to find and navigate to from that menu and it should be rendered as a complete list at once -- do not update the menu after it's been rendered (that causes accidental mis-clicks because the menu jumps around).

(This was created based on common feedback we've heard in this area. Please feel free to add comments to help us plan and implement this in the best way possible…

  5. Add drag-and-drop support for moving Azure Resources

It would be really cool, if a user could drag-and drop a Resource from one Resource Group into a different Resource Group. This is a very natural action that a user might perform with their mouse, and it would be great if it "just worked."

Here is how I would envision the user workflow to occur:

    1. Open the Resource Group list blade

    2. Click on the source Resource Group, to open its blade

    3. In the list of Resources, click and drag a Resource (multi-select should also work)

    4. The Portal detects that you're trying to move a Resource(s), so it automatically scrolls…

  6. Need better and easier capability to delete (clean up) a set of related resources

I have been demo'ing azure quite regularly to customers and while it is really simple to provision something like a vm, it is painful to delete afterwards as there are a number of additional components created like resource groups and storage accounts etc that all need to be deleted manually.

  7. OnPrem Security Groups to Sync with Office 365 Groups

You have two groups seen in the Azure portal. One of them is Team Operations Group which is your On-prem mail-enabled security group - and the other one is Team Ops which is your O365 group. Now, you want the users from your on-prem security group, to be also a part of the O365 group. Can we try to achieve this by dynamic membership rules - more specifically by getting the object ID of on-prem security group and adding it under the dynamic membership rules in your O365 group. At the moment, Dynamic Membership rules ONLY work by targeting Users…

  8. Dynamic group or conditional access based on last logon attribute for schools to weed out students that are stale and add them when active

Add the last logon and other attributes to portal options for conditional access. Basically, create a template with the best options to validate an account based on login dates.
Inactive user group=user with null for last logon date, OR a last logon date that exceeds 2 years.
ALSO, = IF exceeds “” years archive mail and files for "" years to Inactive User Group Files.
Then user can assign P1, P2... licenses and other products based on the user logon data.
In our scenario, when the user is first added to system, since the domain has A1 educational…

  9. Allow renaming of Resources and VMs within Azure IaaS

Not being able to simply rename a Resource Group or any Azure IaaS item such as a VM or Network is very frustrating. This needs to be allowed in order to Administrate Azure properly,

  10. Create a "Domain Auditor" role

With the new demands for more and more detailed auditing and compliance verifications, I would like a "Global Auditor" role to be created which would be similar in access to Enterprise or Domain Admins, but Read Only.

As a busy admin, I don't have time to go get screenshots of group after group and chase down nested rabbit holes. I want the auditors to go look for themselves. Go take whatever screenshots you want anywhere you want in the domain. Don't ask me who has little time and frankly, the most incentive to cover something up if something should not…

  11. sorting option while selecting VM Size

When choosing size option for VM, sorting options should be there like
    Sort By Price,
    Sort By CPU,
    Sort by Memory,etc

  12. Create an NSG Tags for Azure IP Addresses on Internet, that will help a great deal.

While creating NSG's Azure Datacenter IP ranges would be nice to be present as NSG Tags, just like 'Internet', 'VirtualNetwork' or 'AzureLoadBalancer' Tags.

  13. Show VM state in Resource Group listing page

Would be nice to be able to view the resource state right from the resource group listing page so we would not need to enter Vm per Vm to see the state.

  14. Combine RBAC with Azure Resource Policies

Azure Resource Policies are great for limiting resource types and locations etc while RBAC is great at limiting what a user can do however at the moment there is a gap where it isn't possible to only allow specific people to create specific resources such as the published SQL templates at the subscription level. An example of this would be where a multinational company has a US and UK team sharing the same subscription but wish to limit it so that the UK team can only create resources in the UK region. Resource Group control can't be used as the…

  15. Ability to give friendly names to any type of resource

At the moment managing resources is quite messy, because you cannot rename a resource. A good step would be to be able to apply friendly names to resources.

  16. Improve how Azure reports that operations ended

During my work, I have noticed that many operations like updating, stopping or removing VMs are reported as completed before the requested changes have finished being applied. For example, if you remove a VM, the operation is reported as completed although disks need some extra time to be completely detached (and, thus, removed or reused).

That was one example but there are others. All these kinds of I-have-not-actually-finished-doing-the-work situations often break scripts. Manually implementing sleep-and-check code blocks is not a clean and safe option at all, because this is something that the API shoud offer.

    Because all of this, we…

  18. VM list should have a column stating which Ri is being used

Reservation used should be listed in details of Actual VM

Or Vice Versa, Actual VM's should be listed in properties of Reservation.

  19. allow us to toggle whether "hidden" resources are shown.

Action Groups are hidden by default, we have a Resource Group containing these action groups but we can never search for either the resource or the rg.
please allow us to decide whether we want to see these by default. Failing everything, please allow the search results to return results for RGs that only contain hidden resources, this doesn't currently happen.

Thanks for the valid suggestion. Your feedback is now open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

  20. Resource dependency and reference

Looking forward to a feature (blade) in azure portal to list all dependent resources when we select a particular resource. For example, when i select a webapp, the reference blade should list all the resources(logic apps, function apps etc) that are calling this web app
