When selecting a location, how to save as DEFAULT.
When creating a new VM, I have to choose my location each time - eg. I choose 'South-East Australia' everytime.
It would be good to have this as a "Portal Setting"

FYI: I've just submitted a similar suggestion: default the region of a resource based on the parent resource group; default the resource group based on the subscription. https://feedback.azure.com/forums/223579-azure-portal/suggestions/43025910-inherit-region-from-parent.

I hate every time switch region from the US to Europe. Really. Why is it UNPLANNED?
Kuipers, René commented
It is the MOST FRUSTRATING that all region dropdowns look different and it doesn't select the region from the RESOURCE GROUP as DEFAULT. It is soo easy to make an error.
It feels that Azure is not production-ready.
Just remember the last Region used, that would be sufficient for most of us.
OMG! Still nothing implemented!
please i mistakenly set the location to US whereas i am in South Africa
please how do i change
Brian Petersen commented
Allow us to set a default region on the login profile, why do we all have to change from a fixed default East US
Please, sort Region dropdownlists in the Azure Portal by distance (lat/long). Thereby the default is the closest region and you don't have to change it each time.
Agree. Default region is a bonus.
This is so annoying I really want to go back to AWS.
Craig Smith commented
We need this setting, so annoying when you forget to change the region. We aren't all located in Central US remember.

During my training, I messed up because I accidentally created something in UK West when everything else was in UK South. I am surprised a default location is not already a feature.
Mike Ross commented
Given that we mainly use UK south, this would be a really useful option for us as well. It would save a load of time hunting for the right location in a list that is not even alphabetically sorted.
Steve Chester commented
It would be great to have this functionality for all services not just VMs

How is this NOT FIXED YET???

I just tried to move my resource group to EU from the poor default Central US .. i was so happy .. then i realized none of the resources follow .. hilariously pathetic, useless and pointless feature.
Mustafa Kaplan commented
it shouldn't be so hard. Please allow us to set a default location per subscription
Raju Joseph commented
For example, I create a new App Function and select an existing Resource Group. The region should default to the region associated with the resource group to avoid confusion.

Allow user to set default region instead of selecting the same region every time.
Maybe this would make more sense on a subscription level. The portal can handle multiple subscriptions and maybe they differ in location...
It would be awesome if we can adjust our default region for resources allocation regardless our linked account region settings or where our subscription is issued.
