Azure portal

The Azure Portal a central place where you can provision, manage and monitor your Azure resources. From the Azure Portal you can create any of the thousands of items within the Azure Marketplace, you can quickly navigate to resources and accomplish your administrative needs, and you can build custom shareable dashboards to provide live insights into your deployed resources.

  1. Show resource Id in the azure portal too

Show the azure resource id of all the resources in the properties tab for all the resources. Many users are reluctant to run scripts and should be able to see the resource id directly in the UI.

  2. Resource dependency and reference

Looking forward to a feature (blade) in azure portal to list all dependent resources when we select a particular resource. For example, when i select a webapp, the reference blade should list all the resources(logic apps, function apps etc) that are calling this web app

Thanks for the valid suggestion. Your feedback is now open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows us to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and also gives us insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

  3. Azure should have a option to rename the "ResourceGroup"

Azure should have a option to rename the "ResourceGroup". That would be easier for us to manage the resources

  4. Self-service revoke access to subscriptions

Working with many customers over a period of time can mean that you collect a lot of privileged access to a lot of subscriptions. If a user has finished working within a subscription and no longer needs access, perhaps add a feature that will allow them to remove themselves from the subscription.

  5. Validate resource move without moving

Would like to have the option to validate a resource move (resource group and subscription) without actually moving the resources. This would allow us to troubleshoot any validation error preemptively and thus minimize the service window needed when moving resources.

  6. Alert Profile for multiple subscriptions

Like many Azure users, I have access and monitor several subscriptions. Recently MS introduced the new Alert framework. But to use it, I need to create Action Groups and Rules, under EACH AND EVERY subscriptions. This is "DEPARTMENT OF REDUNDANCY DEPARTMENT" and breaks basic rules on Database Normal Form, namely, DUPLICATE DATA.

Why not tie the Action Rule (or Action Group) to an Azure Account PROFILE and make it available to ALL the subscriptions that the Account has access to?

Now, if I need to edit my email address or phone number, or otherwise change how I get Azure Alerts,…

  7. Add columns for Creation Date and Creator ID to Resources List View

I see this suggestion has been submitted and voted for many times. It is annoying to bring up the list of Resources and not being able to see when they were created and who created them. Why can we not have this option in Edit Columns (shown in attached image)?

  8. Enable QnA/Cognitive Services for natural language queries in portal

Would be incredibly nice to see features such as the natural language Q&A approach in PowerBI, where you could infer the following insights (both in Portal as well as API/CLI avenues):

    1) Ask questions and receive suggestions or practices on how to deploy certain resources (e.g. "I'm looking to build a web app that's traffic/load balanced across multiple regions", and have suggestions and/or recommended ARM templates to complete the tasks)

    2) Ask questions on how resources are performing, and show KPIs for Azure Monitor, with suggestions for better performance

    3) Ask for details on cost analysis, with suggestions returned for…

  10. Ability to Sort Azure Devices by Column

The Device List in Azure does not have any capability for sorting by column. Seems like this should be an easy no-brain feature. Currently I have to copy and paste to Excel just to sort by column...

  11. Azure - Resource Group View

Given a Resource Group - it would be great to generate a concise diagram view from the portal - showing all the services in that specific resource group in a typical box. So, in addition to a list view - we would also have a snapshot of what that resource group contains. This would come in handy to do environmental comparisons (for e.g. DEV vs PROD comparisons) in the constituent services , naming etc . - for the same resource group - in a quick focused glance.

  12. Search resource based on dns name or ip address

Because azure now support custom dns name, is just so hard to find a resource based on them in the azure portal. It would be nice to be able to search any resouce based on the dns name or even better search them by using the ip address.

  13. creation date as a first order property for all resources and resource groups

If I have a list of resources or resource groups (retrieved via rest api), I want to be able to sort them by creation date. This would also be useful for portal.azure.com in that you too could add the creation date as a sortable row for all lists of resources and resource groups. This boilerplate feature is noticeably absent. Thank you.

  15. After selecting to create a resource from within a resource group, the resource group of said resource should default

After creating a new resource group, then entering the new resource group to create a new resource the resource group of the new resource should default to the newly created resource group.

  16. Hierarchical Visualizer for all Resource Groups and all dependencies (deployments)

Would be great to sea all dependencies of all deployed resources in a global manner.
You can select one storage account and get a tree of all dependencies or
you select a resource group and ALL dependencies of nested resources.

  17. Always On should be improved

The Always On feature in App Services is designed to prevent IIS from sleeping by continually pinging the web endpoint. This works by sending a request to the app service endpoint, port 80, root path (/) but in several scenarios, this doesn't work. 1) If the service is https only 2) If traffic manager is protecting the sites, then TM pings it anyway and always on will instead route via TM and possibly not do what it should do. 3) If the root path is not available (e.g. one of my WCF services doesn't have anything at the root) then…

  18. export from browse blade

Today I tried to export the grid content of a browse blade to get a list of resources i'd filtered down to.

it appears to be impossible if the browse content scrolls. if I start selecting and scrolling, and scroll to the bottom, copy+paste only gets a subset of the data. there doesn't appear to be an easy way to export what I have visible.

I appear to have to copy what's on screen, paste, scroll, copy what's on screen, scroll, etc?

all I needed was the resource ids, but I had a heck of a time trying to do…

  19. Allow renaming of Resources and VMs within Azure IaaS

Not being able to simply rename a Resource Group or any Azure IaaS item such as a VM or Network is very frustrating. This needs to be allowed in order to Administrate Azure properly,

  20. multiple security groups per NIC

Usually, the way RBAC stuff like this works (including the way it works in AWS) is a pretty simple matter of:
    - mapping entities (in *nix, it'd be users, in this context it's NICs) to lists of roles (groups in *nix, security groups in a networking context)
    - mapping roles to lists of capabilities (in *nix, members of group "x" can open file "y", in a networking context members of security group "x" can accept inbound web traffic from host "z")

The system is default-deny, because whitelisting is also a basic component of security, and the entity has the union…
