Notification Hubs

  1. Badge management on Azure Notification Hub

It will be very helpful to have the ability in Azure Notification Hub to maintain badge count per installation/device, and the ability to increment that count when sending push notification. This badge count can be very similar to PushVariable (ability to refer in templates etc.), but only difference being there should a way to increment and reset that variable (and maybe ability to decrement too).

Consider the scenario where users of an app subscribe to topics and backend sends notification on the subscribed topics to users, this can be very easily and elegantly done using Azure Notification Hub, by using…

  2. Provide browse, query for handle/tag registrations in Portal

It would be good to provide browse/query explorer for registered devices/handles and tags in Portal.

The interface might be similar to DocumentDB document/query explorers in Portal.

  3. Return FCM messageId in REST Api Response Header for all pricing tiers

The Notifications Hubs REST API Method "Send a Template Notification" should always return the FCM message_id in the Response Body for all Notification Hub tiers. Without this functionality,
it’s of limited use in secure and auditable applications where message notification tracking is vital.

The alternative is to bypass Notification Hubs altogether for the purposes of sending and use the Firebase Api directly.

  4. Need built-in RBAC role to restrict Notification Hub and sub-services

Need built-in RBAC role to restrict Notification Hub and sub-services as we shouldnt be providing Contributor/owner access to the customer due to security restrictions.

  5. Create Notification Hub Dedicated Tier

Currently there is no support for Notification Hub on a dedicated cluster tier, but only on shared clusters with other customers. For setups that need to avoid the "noisy neighbor" scenario and provide stable latency on push notification delivery, this would be a great choice.

  6. incorrect hints when sending test message on TestSend blade

We have devices register as GCM template device. When we send native message on TestSend blade, it show 'Successfully send test message'. It is not correct, it should tell me the sending failed, please use 'Custom Template' to send message.

  7. Notification Hub debugging system like Onesignal

    Hello, sorry for my english.

We use several applications with notifications, some with OneSignal and others with Azure Notification Hub.
With OneSignal, it's easy to test a specific device, run a test campaign and manage everything. See if people have disabled notification, application version, etc. etc.
Make debugging easier. Manage the certificate easily with a lot of documentation.

In Azure, it's really very hard and boring.

It is very difficult to send a notification test to a specific device. We are not sure to send 30 000 devices a test notification, etc.
The monitoring system is not really useful, because…

  8. Write e-mails in recipients language

Azure sends notifications to me about my account. These messages are in dutch. I don´t speak dutch and it seems there is no way to change it (I contacted support). The company headquarter is in the netherlands, but there a subsidiaries all over europe. Only a few speaks dutch. The language of the e-mail should be dependend on the account of the user, not of the head quarter.

What are the nature of these emails? Are they account notifications or related to activity within Azure Notification Hubs?

I imagine that the reason this is happening is because the Azure Subscription your Notification Hub namespaces are configured under has Dutch set for its language. It doesn’t feel like this is something we can affect unless you can change the language for the subscription you’re using

  9. Use DateTime for InstallationTemplate.Expiry property in .NET API

Right now the datatype for the APNS-specific Expiry property on InstallationTemplate is a string. I have... no idea what to put there. The API reference is less than helpful:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/microsoft.azure.notificationhubs.installationtemplate.expiry.aspx#P:Microsoft.Azure.NotificationHubs.InstallationTemplate.Expiry

Since it looks like the expiry ends up as a binary encoded integer value of seconds since the UNIX epoch, I can't really use that to guess what format Azure expects.

This would all be moot if the Notification Hub .NET API used a DateTime for the expiry and handled the translation to the format APNS requires.

  10. Add a loopback fake test PNS to the PNS list - Test receive

    Having a loopback PNS can:
    -improve the test capabilities
-improve the onboarding experience, a new user can just set up a notification hub on azure management portal, use the test send and then see the messages arriving in the loopback PNS

This could be a plus: from the loopback PNS it should be possible to manage the registration and the tags to receive, in this way the users can have a complete testing environment for onboarding and get familiar with the technology, without opening development accounts with Google/Microsoft/Apple/Amazon.

  11. Increasing the 60 tags per device limitation of Notification Hubs

Having this limitation requires a workaround for implementations that focus on managing the complexity of social relationships

  12. Add support for data notifications on iOS and Android

FCM has a concept of a "data" message, similar to WNS Raw message, that permits an arbitrary JSON payload. They include the ability to wake backgrounded apps to allow them to handle the incoming message (rather than going directly to the OS notification manager).

Azure should replicate this support and include the ability to use them with Template registrations.

  14. Create ability to quickly migrate the hub resource and all the registrations to another Azure region

Create ability to quickly migrate the hub resource and all the registrations to another Azure region. We recently experienced extended outages due to our hosting unit being under heavy load and it took about a month for the product team to sort out the issues. In case of these events, doesn't seem like there's any quick solution to move to a new region/hosting unit to mitigate the issues until they are solved, without impacting service availability.

  15. make Tag expressions more sophisticated

Please make Tag expressions more sophisticated.
Add some ability to use something like linq for example.
    Add something like TAG.contains
