Notification Hubs

  1. Add support for Critical Alerts on APNS

    Starting with iOS 12, iphone apps and APNS can send critical alerts 1. Critical alerts play a sound regardless of whether or not Do Not Disturb is enabled or the ringer switch is off.

    As documented on the APNS remote payload documentation 2 the sound key in the notification payload can be used as a dictionary and can contain the keys "critical", "name" and "volume" to send a critical alert remote notification. An example payload would look like:

    {
    "aps":{

    "alert": {

    "action-loc-key":"View",
    "body":"Test Critical Notification",
    "launch-image": "default",
    "title": "Test Critical Notification"
    },
    "badge":1,
    "sound":{
    "critical":1,
    "sound":"alarm.aif",
    "volume":1
    }

  2. Support iOS VoIP and Standard notifications in one hub

    My app need standard, silent and VoIP notifications. If I want to support them, I need 2 notification hubs just because of iOS.

  3. Check the total active register device and total push in namespace level

    Our customer notification hub namespace have lots of hubs under it. Every time, customer need to calculate the total cost. Please add such metrics on namespace level.

  4. Create Notification Hub Dedicated Tier

    Currently there is no support for Notification Hub on a dedicated cluster tier, but only on shared clusters with other customers. For setups that need to avoid the "noisy neighbor" scenario and provide stable latency on push notification delivery, this would be a great choice.

  5. Create ability to quickly migrate the hub resource and all the registrations to another Azure region

    Create ability to quickly migrate the hub resource and all the registrations to another Azure region. We recently experienced extended outages due to our hosting unit being under heavy load and it took about a month for the product team to sort out the issues. In case of these events, doesn't seem like there's any quick solution to move to a new region/hosting unit to mitigate the issues until they are solved, without impacting service availability.

  6. APN Tokens should be hidden (password field) in the portal?

    From what I've read the token in the Apple (APNS) section of the notification hub should be the contents of the p8 private key file.

    I pasted this in and it is working fine however the full private key is there in plain text for anyone to see.

    Did i use the wrong key / token here or should this be somehow hidden to stop someone copying it and then using it elsewhere?

    You are correct, anyone with access to the notification hub can view the notification credentials for all notification providers. This is how the underlying API is built and while we could use a password field to hide the value in the UI, the value is still available in the browser. Additionally, it is common for customers to have trouble inputting these values and it’s important for them to be able to verify the value when troubleshooting. It’s important to control access to your notification hubs to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the stored credentials.”

    From our side, we are planning to refresh this UI and we could consider hiding by default with a checkbox to show the value. Technically it’s not secure, but at least hides the value from casual access.

  8. Need built-in RBAC role to restrict Notification Hub and sub-services

    Need built-in RBAC role to restrict Notification Hub and sub-services as we shouldnt be providing Contributor/owner access to the customer due to security restrictions.

  10. make Tag expressions more sophisticated

    Please make Tag expressions more sophisticated.
    Add some ability to use something like linq for example.
    Add something like TAG.contains

  11. Increasing the 60 tags per device limitation of Notification Hubs

    Having this limitation requires a workaround for implementations that focus on managing the complexity of social relationships

  12. Need HA or DR feature for Azure Notification Hubs

    I am opening this feedback on behalf of our customer.
    Our customer would like to find a way to have multiple Notification Hub instances in separate regions to shield them from the outages.
    They currently rely on Notification Hub for their service to provide mission-critical notifications.
    Are there any plans or road-map for High Availability or Disaster recovery features or anything similar for Notification hubs.

  13. Add integration with unity apps

    I'd like to use Notification Hubs with FCM and APNs to push notifications to a unity app. It would be useful to have a tutorial for this and/or a unity plugin which does the job.

  14. Notification Hub debugging system like Onesignal

    Hello, sorry for my english.

    We use several applications with notifications, some with OneSignal and others with Azure Notification Hub.
    With OneSignal, it's easy to test a specific device, run a test campaign and manage everything. See if people have disabled notification, application version, etc. etc.
    Make debugging easier. Manage the certificate easily with a lot of documentation.

    In Azure, it's really very hard and boring.

    It is very difficult to send a notification test to a specific device. We are not sure to send 30 000 devices a test notification, etc.
    The monitoring system is not really useful, because…

  15. cli support notification hub

    Support creating and managing Notification Hubs from the CLI. Not everybody uses powershell...

    Please make Azure-CLI a first class citizen to manage resources...

  16. Write e-mails in recipients language

    Azure sends notifications to me about my account. These messages are in dutch. I don´t speak dutch and it seems there is no way to change it (I contacted support). The company headquarter is in the netherlands, but there a subsidiaries all over europe. Only a few speaks dutch. The language of the e-mail should be dependend on the account of the user, not of the head quarter.

    What are the nature of these emails? Are they account notifications or related to activity within Azure Notification Hubs?

    I imagine that the reason this is happening is because the Azure Subscription your Notification Hub namespaces are configured under has Dutch set for its language. It doesn’t feel like this is something we can affect unless you can change the language for the subscription you’re using

  17. Return FCM messageId in REST Api Response Header for all pricing tiers

    The Notifications Hubs REST API Method "Send a Template Notification" should always return the FCM message_id in the Response Body for all Notification Hub tiers. Without this functionality,
    it’s of limited use in secure and auditable applications where message notification tracking is vital.

    The alternative is to bypass Notification Hubs altogether for the purposes of sending and use the Firebase Api directly.

  18. Add the ability to read certificate (APNS) from Key Vaults

    Instead of uploading a certificate to the notification hub (Scattering certificate management across many resources). Having certificates consolidated in a Key Vault makes it easier to manage certificates and makes expiring certificates less common.

    We rely heavily on Key Vaults, for managing our domains SSL certificates, to Azure Service Fabric Cluster Certificate and others. Having the APNs Certificate there provides a one stop shop for all certificates on the portal.

  19. Add support for data notifications on iOS and Android

    FCM has a concept of a "data" message, similar to WNS Raw message, that permits an arbitrary JSON payload. They include the ability to wake backgrounded apps to allow them to handle the incoming message (rather than going directly to the OS notification manager).

    Azure should replicate this support and include the ability to use them with Template registrations.

  20. Badge management on Azure Notification Hub

    It will be very helpful to have the ability in Azure Notification Hub to maintain badge count per installation/device, and the ability to increment that count when sending push notification. This badge count can be very similar to PushVariable (ability to refer in templates etc.), but only difference being there should a way to increment and reset that variable (and maybe ability to decrement too).

    Consider the scenario where users of an app subscribe to topics and backend sends notification on the subscribed topics to users, this can be very easily and elegantly done using Azure Notification Hub, by using…
