What is the upgrade path for MDS in the PaaS environment - without purchasing another MDM software product?

Nearly 2 years on, it seems that MDS on Azure SQL still isn't a thing. Have Microsoft given up on MDS, or just under-resourced/under-funded it?

Would enhance the transition-options for PaaS, considering the growing toolset (SQL, Analytical, now SSIS Integration Runtime, etc.)!

Adding MDS as a PaaS service (like Azure Analytical Services) would be a great value add to the Azure platform. Keep the Excel plug-in, improve the admin interface to be like a standard Azure service and you have a winner.

The connectivity from MDS to Azure SQL or PaaS MDS will be a great feature to extend the limitations on usage of Azure SQL.

We're deploying a DW on an Azure SQL DB. Our master data is growing more complex as we bring in additional data sources.

Now we have to choose between creating our own MDM functionality or redeploying to a VM so we can use MDS.

This request has been out here for a year and there isn't any evidence that is is even on the product roadmap.

Have a client that is very keen on having this feature available in Azure SQL! Any news?

We installed SQL Server 2016 on an Azure VM in order to continue using MDS. We could migrate to Azure SQL Database exclusively except for the fact that MDS is not available there.

Would be great to have MDS as a SaaS option in Azure (with Azure SQL repository), ideally integrated with the Data Catalog.

I am also interested to know the timeline for bringing MDS into Azure MS SQL. We currently develop matching and cleansing algorithms and would like to implement them in the cloud.
