    1. Allow Mutual SSL Auth on Application Gateway

At the moment SSL termination is possible with Application Gateway but it doesn't cater for instances where client authentication is required (mutual auth). So if client auth is required, SSL needs to be passed through and terminated on each of the web servers. This increases load across the server farm and makes management of certificates more difficult since all certs need to be maintained on all servers. I believe this function is available with API Management but the additional cost is hard to justify if one doesn't require the other additional features. So having mutual SSL auth capability built into…

    2. Azure Application Gateway WAF Mode Increase Limit on SecRequestBodyLimit

When we have the WAF set to prevention mode some of our HTTP post are denied with code 413.

Request body no files data length is larger than the configured limit (131072).. Deny with code (413)

Can you make these two settings configurable on the WAF?

      SecRequestBodyLimit
      SecRequestBodyNoFilesLimit

      Thanks
      Mark

    4. Application Gateway WAF: update to OWASP CRS 3.0.2

The 'OWASP 3.0' (3.0.0) WAF rule set generates a lot of false positives, even on random base64 payloads. The only option is to disable many rules.

2 examples which frequently trigger on SAML authentication exchanges are 932140 (https://github.com/SpiderLabs/owasp-modsecurity-crs/issues/671) and 941120 (https://github.com/SpiderLabs/owasp-modsecurity-crs/issues/675).

OWASP CRS 3.0.2 reworked some rules, in order to reduce some of these false positives. Please support CRS 3.0.2 (either as an in-place upgrade for 3.0.0, or as a new option).

    5. Reorder the Listeners on the Application Gateway

Recently I was in the need to register additional listeners to an App Gateway. The issue is that the rules and Listeners should be created (at least using the portal) on correct order and the portal don't have any options to change this order.
As the process of update changes on the Gateway takes a few minutes, this type of change requires a few hours to create a new record, remove, add it again, create rules, etc.
Using a pattern similar to the NSG where we define a value for the order would save a lot of time.

    6. Reduce update times for Application Gateways

It would be great if the Application Gateway could update faster. Working with AGWs forces me to wait for 15-30 minutes after each update - which wastes a lot of time.

Working with gateways at AWS feels nearly instant and does not require such long waiting times.
I'd highly appreciate if Azure AWG updates could become so fast, too.

    7. Support for temporary removing nodes through REST API

It would be great if there was a REST API or something similar we could use to take a node out of rotation without being dependent on the probe detecting it.

Usecase: We run SF behind the Application Gateway. When we update our front-end service, we would like to take it out of rotation before the service is updated. This does not seem possible today, since we have to rely on the probe detecting that a node has gone down. Since the probes have a lag (it probes on a given interval), some users will have a bad experience when…

    8. Application Gateway Performance

We have two large instances of Application gateway on our application which is a connected client application using long polling. When we did load testing, gateway starts to give 503 with just 10k connections whereas our back-end application just works with just 7 % CPU. When we raised ticket we got a response saying it is as per design. We did not expect this from Application gateway.
Can you please let us know what is performance metrics of Application Gateway.

    9. Allow both ExpressRoute and VPN Virtual Network Gateways on a single VNet

We have several clients who require both a ExpressRoute Gateway to connect from their on-premises network, AND a VPN connection between the same VNet and another VNet (Either in the same subscription, or in a different subscription.

An example is a client who wishes to use their subscription to host database servers that can then replicate certain data sets across to an other companies subscription via a VPN connection.

    10. Direct Traffic to External web page when all nodes in a pool are down

Ability to redirect incoming request to external webpage when all nodes in the backends pool are shutdown. Users will get this information information during maintenance/outage.

    11. Auto-scale for Application Gateway

I hope Application Gateway instance can increase with auto-scale.

If it has this feature, we dose't need to add instance for many web access.

    12. Application Gateway support for multiple IPs on backend DNS name

We are using Docker on Azure. Therefore we have a single DNS name for all containers. It would be great to have support for this. Having a backend pool with a single DNS name like 'myservice.domain' having multiple A records (each one resulting in a separate backend server entry).

    13. Application Gateway Public IP to be allocated to existing Virtual Machine

We want Application Gateway Public IP to be used and associated with Virtual machine. If we remove application Gateway , its public IP should be retailed.

    14. Application gateway

      Hi MS team,

Could you enable the 'Edit' option for the Listeners we are configuring in the Application gateway. This will be really helpful if we decide to change our certificate.

Although we can do a workaround of deleting the listener and creating new one, but that needs some time investigating it, so I feel Edit option is a much better and easy approach for clients.

      Thanks,
      Thulasidas

    15. azure application gateway websockets latency metric

When using websockets together with Azure Application Gateway, you end up with artifically increased latency_d in the ApplicationGatewayPerformanceLog. Indeed, all the 101 (websockets) connections remain pending, which is a normal behavior and their duration gets recorded by the gateway. The problem is this normal behavior increases the average latency of all requests (including non-101) and there is no way to filter 101 out of the ApplicationGatewayPerformanceLog logs...Therefore, if we setup an alert on latency_d, this will raise a lot of false positives...While this metric is very useful in the ApplicationGatewayAccessLog because it allows for calculation of average user sessions, it…
