VPN Connection Status Alert
It would be nice to have built in alerting for when VPN connections are dropped/connecting. We've had to setup an hourly runbook to call a PowerShell command that pushes data to OMS and then create an alert. All of the data is available in resource health so it shouldn't be a difficult enhancement, we just have no native way to pull/alert the data.
Thanks for the feedback. We will review our current Azure Monitor capability for VPN connections to see if we can provide this alerting capability, or leveraging Az Monitor Diagnostics logs/OMS.

I would like this ability as well.

I am surprised there isn't a simple mechanism for this already. It logs the failure, why can't that generate an email?

I'm surprised there's still no native way to do this. The endpoint for one of our connections is very restrictive so it's hard for 3rd party tools to monitor it.
any update to this as this should be standard practice. still no way to monitor and alert if one of my connections is down

Recently we observed our VPN connectivity dropped frequently due to update activity, is it not possible to intimate the customer for same so they can take necessary action and reduce the impact, and respected team monitor, also required we should get alert for same.
