designate set of name servers to all self hosted dns zones
When maintaining DNS Records in Azure, you have to update registrars records to use name servers assigned to a domain. Now that those nameserver sets varies, it takes extra effort to create Records, specially if you have to do it manually.
It would be easier if you could try and use same set of name servers to all dnz zones for the dns zones you are maintaining.
Thanks for the suggestion. We are tracking this on our backlog.
Some background: Azure DNS supports multiple name servers, which are dynamically assigned as zones are created. This allows us to let customers create zones without first proving that they own the domain name (since if we supported only a single name server set, we couldn’t allow just anyone to create a zone and thereby block the legitimate domain name owner). Domain proof-of-ownership checks are a significant hassle, so it’s important that we avoid them where possible.
Having said all that, I do understand that in some scenarios having a consistent set of name server names is desirable, and we are considering options for how we might support this in future.

Any update on this? In the planning stage of migrating a few hundred domains. Noticed the dynamic name servers and it's a total deal-breaker that we can't have a consistent set of name servers.

We are planning to migrate 600+ domains and maintaining different name servers become hectic job for administrator. Hence, one should be provided with option to get same set of name servers for all their domains.

we have a domain xyz.com which is hosted externally to Azure. We have set up delegation of a subdomain blah.xyz.com into Azure DNS. However, as DNS servers assigned to a DNS zone are dynamic, terraform tore down and recreated our zone in Azure and is now sitting on a different nameserver to the one listed in the delegation, which has now broken our DNS.
How are we supposed to handle this situation as we have no admin control over the parent domain to update the record automatically?
I was surprised you don't replicate DNS zones across all your name servers, but I guess I can see why you don't from your response.
Still, its been 2 years since your original reply. How further forward are your considerations to allowing us to peg to a particular name server group like AWS does with delegation sets?

We have 100+ domains to migrate to Azure as well.. a specified set of nameservers would make administration much simpler.

We plan to move 350 domains from our self-hosted nameservers. How about allowing customers to use a single name server set after a manual trust establishment process?

Hello Azure Networking Team! We plan to migrate 125 domains to Azure DNS, update and manage name servers looks painful.
