Insight in Azure application gateway performance
Currently there is no way to view usage statistics of the Azure application gateway. Information I would like to see:
- Per hour performance statistics (e.g. nr of connections, bandwith, CPU usage, etc.)
- Advice on number of required instances based on metrics from last few days with recommendations to increase or decrease the number of instances
Thank you for all the votes and feedback. We have started work on this and the capability will be supported soon. If you would like to get in touch with us to discuss your scenarios, please fill this form: https://aka.ms/ApplicationGatewayCohort

I agree with all the request below dating from as early as 2017. We are truly blind to the true health of this black box "AppGW" and need to have a better understanding on if these virtual devices are being hammered from a CPU standpoint / threshold , etc..
or auto-scalability for this service,

It would also be really good to be able to see all responses returned to clients by the Application Gateway.
There are cases where the gateway is overloaded, where 503s will be returned, but not logged in a way that's currently visible to us.
Also, per second metrics around CPU, throughput and any other bottlenecks are absolutely required for us to know when and how to scale App Gateway.

Include new metrics like:
App GW Requests per second
App GW Latency to the backend
APP GW Queue (if there's throttling)
