  1. Date format in storage content listing should be ISO-8601 with leading zeroes

Date format in storage content listing should be ISO-8601 with leading zeroes.

Now the listing is not in any order because days and month have been formatted w/o leading zeroes and ordering is made by blob name.

  2. Invoke-StorageSyncCloudTiering - permanent?

Concerns Cloud Tiering in Azure File Sync.

When once Invoke-StorageSyncCloudTiering executed on a folder then the folder will be further always enforced to be tiered? No matter what Cloud Tiering policy is set up for the Sync Group? And no matter if recently used / copied?

    Concerns the module: "C:\Program Files\Azure\StorageSyncAgent\StorageSync.Management.ServerCmdlets.dll"

  3. SAS keys on the portal has a break compatibility issue with SQL Server

The SAS key generated in Azure Portal has sv=2019-12-12

This sv is not supported by SQL Server credentials to be used for backups to azure storage.

Using Azure CLI we can generate the sv as 2018-11-09 and this sv works with SQL Server.

Using SSMS UI the sv we can generate is 2018-03-28, and it works as well.

In summary: Each tool is providing a different sv, some of these sv's have breaking compatibility features and the portal is not able anymore to generate an sv compatible with SQL Server backups.

Export currently functions only for V1 storage and USWest. Need to get operations aligned with documentation.

  6. Include Logic Apps in the Trusted Microsoft Services for Storage Accounts

Include Logic Apps in the Trusted Microsoft Services for Storage Accounts when configuring diagnostic settings in the Logic App to "archive to a storage account". Security Center flags logic app for not having this configured but then after configuring the storage account is flagged for not restriction access, "Restrict access to storage accounts with firewall and virtual network configurations (Preview)". Since the logic app can not be assigned to a virtual network this cannot be resolved/secured properly without taking my environment in to an App Service Environment.

  7. Provide RBAC for folders and sub folders within a Blob Container

It would be great if RBAC can be provided for folders and sub folders within a Blob Container.

A Blob Container can have multiple folders and sub folders, it would be good if RBAC can be assigned at folder and sub folder level.

For examle, a Blob Container called “Container W”, it has 2 folders “Folder A” and “Folder B”, then “Folder A” has 2 sub folders called “Folder sub A1”, “Folder sub A2”; and “Folder B” has 3 sub folders called “Folder sub B1”, “Folder sub B2” and “Folder sub B3”. It would be great if access can be…

  9. Restrict access blob

Hello, we have a storage with 3 blobs:

    Blob1

    Blob2

    Blob3

We need 3 access (keys) in which every key has only access to a specific folder in the blob:

    key1: access only Blob1

    key2: access only Blob2

    key3: access only Blob3

    something like this:

  10. Adding messages to queue as strings using SDK

Messages are not getting added to the queue as strings from .NET SDK for storage, but via portal we are able to add messages to the queue with out base 64 encoded.

I had to Base64 Encode the string being passed to the Queue.SendMessage function, this was not mentioned clearly in the public documentation.

  11. Only synchronize files which are accessed locally

To save having to do a large initial synchronization from an existing on premise fileshare server to the cloud it would be great if it only synchronized files / folders which were actually used / accessed by users. This could ease housekeeping and archiving, making the move to Azure files a realistic option for us.

  13. Include AAD user name in $logs or Log analytics when using Azure portal

Many customers talked with me about this request.

We now have $logs and Diagnostic settings (preview) which can send log format 2.0 to Log Analytics.

The problem is that the log format 2.0 does not have the aad user name if an aad user reads/writes blobs from Azure portal.

Anyway, if I use azcopy --login and azcopy copy to upload files, the aad user can be recorded in the $logs and Log Analytics. Customers want the aad user in $logs if using Azure portal.

  14. handle removing a resoruce group that has backup more elegantly

if the vm that was being backed up is removed, then you can't remove the back up service, and hence can't remove the resource group.

  15. Azure Files Improve AD DS integration

I like the new AD DS integration, but it should support automatic password update too. I can imagine enterprise environments do not grant individuals permissions to "own" a storage account AND administer AD at the same time, so the pre-requisites for password updates could be problematic. At the same time, the need to manually update password every some time appears like administrative overhead, especially if larger number of shares are at play.

  16. Improved Status for Azure Storage Import / Export job

The current Azure Storage Import job process does not provide the subscriber any status updates as to when the drive is received, processed or transfer to storage starts. It would be great if we could subscribe to email notification so we can track the process or at a minimum log the detail in the portal for the subscriber to see. I have little info on when the job was started and can only see "Transferring" in the portal UI. Maybe this can be included when Import / Export is enabled in the "new" portal?

  17. There should be a way for users to navigate to their containers without having to have full read permissions on the storage account

There should be a way for users to navigate (using point and click) to their containers without having to have full read permissions on the storage account (which seem to override any container-level).
We found that granting the "Reader" role on the storage account gave users read access to all the containers within it. Perhaps that needs to be reviewed, or another role created that just allows the displaying of storage accounts, and then displaying of containers within it could be based on container-level ACLs

Extend Blob Batch API to support Batch Read, to access multiple byte ranges from different blobs without needing to send multiple requests.
