  1. "Preview" file in Blob container vs. "Edit"

I store a number of CSV files in my blob container. At times, I just want to quickly preview the schema of the CSV file, and how the fields are structured for a downstream analysis. The "Edit" feature is built to edit, but I would just like to preview say 10-15 rows rows of the file with the header. Similar to running "head -10 xx.csv" in a terminal window. Today, with the "Edit" tab I can preview/edit up to 2.1 MB. However, if I just wanted to preview, you could enable that for a small set of rows for every…

When you build a product to sync files between Azure File Storage and on-premisess file servers we expect it to be a near realtime synchronisation, not once every 24 four hours.

Can we force a synchronisation when we need it, say every hour ?

  5. Handle collisions in Azure File Sync similarly to DFSR

It appears that file sync collisions in AZFS generate new files where users can see them. This causes a great deal of confusion when users start seeing their files duplicated. The DFSR method of moving losing files to the ConfictAndDeleted folder allowed for data to be preserved and restored if necessary without upsetting users.

  6. make it clear how secure Azure storage is

At https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/storage/ it isn't clear if I were to store files or if my organization were to use it for storage, how secure our files/data would be. For me personally, if I store files with personal data, like credit card numbers, using my Microsoft Surface Pro 3, how safe are the files from others getting access to the files? to the content? If a small non-profit were to store files there, where there may be a need for several people to have access, how safe are the files from others getting access to the files? to the content?

  7. Bug: Storage account endpoint

When adding a storage endpoint from a storage account to a VNET through "Firewalls and virtual networks". The operation appears as successful in the portal. However

    az storage account network-rule list
Shows output of "networkSourceDeleted", which seems to be more correct as I am not able to get network connectivity.

In this case the vnet has been deleted and recreated with the same ID. Re-creating endpoint gives the same result.

  8. ADLS Gen2 works with BlobStorage.

ADLS Gen2 works with BlobStorage, so I think the following sentence is incorrect.
[Data Lake Storage Gen2 is only supported on General-purpose V2 storage accounts with Hierarchical namespace enabled.]
The correct movement is as follows.
    - Select a blob when creating a storage account and enable the hierarchical structure.
    - Abfss: //... can be connected, and the endpoint is also <account> .dfs.core.windows.net.
    - No error occurs when connecting from other services.
Is it not "only" but "General-purpose V2 and BlobStorage"?

  9. Azure Storage File Service Snapshots

Hello, your file service snapshots only allow copy of individual files back to the main file service container. Why can't you allow copying of directories? It seems strange you can copy files back to the main container but not directories. Also please allows snapshots of containers to be mounted via cifs like the main container.

    Thanks

  10. Allow non-public address ranges for Firewall and/or cross-region VNET rules

Storage accounts firewalls currently allow white-listing of networks within the same region.

I have peered VNETs in other regions that require access to a Blob Store.

I am unable to add these VNETs to the white-list and when I try to white-list the address range I am unable to because it is only possible white-list public IPs.

This leaves no option other than to leave the firewall open to world access. Although it is possible to lock down access using IAM, the addition of a Firewall would be preferred.

  12. Firewall settings

I wish more flexible firewall settings like:

    a) Allow inbound packets from Azure infractructure?
    a-0) No.
    a-1) Yes, all. (any)
a-2) Yes, but only from this and that VNET(s).

    b) Allow inbound packets from the public Internet?
    b-0) No.
    b-1) Yes, all. (0.0.0.0/0)
b-2) Yes, but only from this and that IP range(s)

  14. Azcopy support piping

    Here is my scenario

    Invoke-sqlcmd -query "Select * from master.sys.table" -ServerInstance myserver -database -mydb | convert-csv | select -skip 2 | .\7z.exe a -si tgzip $gzipedfilename

Now I am taking that $gzipedfilename and uploading to blob storage using azcopy. This is causing huge disk I/O and queue when I am running above script in multiple threads. I am trying pipe Azcopy on the output of above script by doing

    | .\7z.exe a -si tgzip -so | Azcopy -----

but I don't know if Azcopy supports piping and how. Can someone help? Or s there any other way to accomplish this…

  15. enlarge the maximum size for Append Blobs

There are some limitations for the Append Blobs like an append blob can include up 50,000 blocks, each block up to a maximum of 4 MB. They are too small to support most of user scenarios. It is higher to recommend to enlarge these limitations.

  19. Allow tables to be deleted via the Storage Explorer Application.

Deleting Azure Tables via Storage Explorer should be a simple highlight-and-delete process akin to File Explorer's selection abilities on Windows. Applications such as Cerulean File Explorer and Powershell scripting allow for this.
