  1. Add Alerts for Storage Account Usage

Add alerts for storage account usage, user should be able to set an alert for say 500GB usage.

    Thanks

    • Manage SAS Token by Name and Include in Audit Logs

Give SAS tokens a name when generating then:
      - allow report/table of all generated token
      - allow revoke of exisiting token (or modification of access)
      - use the SAS token name in storage audit logs

At the moment, the storage access logs do not show any useful information about who has made access, and this is critical to a practical audit function.

Thank you for your feedback. Currently you can use a stored access policy to manage revocation of an existing token. You are also able to track requests made using an existing stored access policy in the storage account logs. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-dotnet-shared-access-signature-part-1#controlling-a-sas-with-a-stored-access-policy for more details. For any further questions, or to discuss your specific scenario, send us an email at azurestoragefeedback@microsoft.com.

      • Provide ability to limit the size of the payload being uploaded to a blob storage using a sas token

Currently there are only handful of limitations one can associate with a SAS token generated for Azure Storage Blob. Those are time period, access type, IP address filtering as well as protocol. It would be great to add a new option to limit the amount of data which can be uploaded to the storage.

Support mounting an Azure file share in FreeBSD. Currently FreeBSD is unable to mount Azure file shares.

Thank you for your feedback! In this case, the reason why an Azure file share cannot be mounted on FreeBSD is because of the SMB support provided in the OS distribution rather than a limitation we have on the Azure Files service side. That said, we have contributed to Linux to support SMB 3.0 with encryption in the past, so we would like to investigate how to make Azure Files work on FreeBSD as well.

To help us prioritize this ask, please continue to vote for this item.

            Thanks,

When invoking Directory Statistics on deep folder trees - Storage Explorer hangs and has to be killed from process list. The attachment shows the problem.

              • Allow SASKey generation without revealing storage keys

I would like to be able to allow authorized users to generate SAS keys but not see (list) the storage account primary (master) keys. If someone is in possession of a master key, you cannot stop data exfiltration (until you become aware and change the keys). As least with an SAS key, the act of creating it can be detected (e.g., if they create an SAS token without a proper IP address restriction, etc.). Furthermore, the act of creating an SAS key is logged in the Azure Activity log.

So I would like to suggest defining a new RBAC action…

                • Support latest rest version in Azure Storage Emulator

Currently you cannot use the latest Azure Storage Emulator (5.2) with the latest Storage Client Library (8.3.0) because the SCL supports '2016-05-31 REST version' and ASE doesn't.

You will receive the error 'Invalid storage account 'devstoreaccount1'. Please make sure your credentials are correct.' if you try and connect to it.

It is suggested by others to downgrade to SCL 7.2.1, but that is a no go if you happen to be using .NET Standard 1.4 in your project.

                    • Import/Export Service Add ability to prepare already copied data to the drive for importing to Azure. Our application have some data storag

Import/Export Service: add ability to prepare already copied data to the drive for importing to Azure.

Our application have some data storage, and we do not copy data from disk to disk.
We read data from our storage and want to write it as a stream directly to device, which will be shipped to Azure.

For using WAImportExport tool we must write it on local drive and then copy through this tool. There is a lot of data, so we need additional storage to copy it local. This does not suit us, we want to avoid this.

                      And of course…

                      • virus checking/scanning mechanism for azure storage on file upload. Possibly optional for improved performance(bound to container).

It would be nice to have an integrated virus checking/scanning mechanism on Azure storage without having to rely on 3rd party software.

Implement a check for version compatibility between Emulator and WindowsAzure.Storage library.

When there is an update of WindowsAzure.Storage nuget package and I update it I frequently start getting 400 Bad request from the library.

Then I spent an hour investigating the strange behavior until I tried to install the latest Emulator. Then the exception disappeared.

This type of exception has come to me again and again for the last 4 years.

My humble request if anybody from Microsoft Azure Storage Emulator team sees this - Please add a check for development mode and…

                            • allow snapshot multiple managed disks at the same point in time

We have database linux vm with multiple premium managed disks. We have software raid on top of these disks inside the Linux guest vm. We need a way to take snapshots of these multiple managed disks at the same point in time coordinated at Azure storage level so all the writes are captured at the exact same point in time across all disks.

                              • New flag to allow AzCopy to run in backup mode

Windows has a relatively unknown backup API that tools like Robocopy can access if you use the /B flag.

What it means in reality is that a user with SeBackupPrivilege, running in an admin console with a tool like robocopy can copy data without being restricted by NTFS permissions.
For someone that works with File servers every day this would solve a lot of issues.

                                • Ability to filter out Azure system tables (the one that begin "$")

At the moment when I view Azure tables I see all the Azure "system" tables, they all appear to begin with "$", e.g. $MetricsCapacityBlob.

Personally I've never ever had need to look at those so it would de-clutter the interface if I had a way of removing them from the list. This could be as simple as an option to hide all tables beginning "$" or I guess you could go further for other scenarios.

                                  • Server side delete, rename of virtual folder

Currently if I have millions of documents inside a virtual folder, there is not way to delete them without actually iterating through everything, which is extremely time consuming (weeks to process deletions)

For example, if you have multiple containers, which in turn have multiple virtual folders with millions of blobs, moving, renaming or deleting the "folder" is impossible without some painfully slow iterating through everything.

                                    thanks!

                                    • Proportional performance

The P40 and P50 managed storage disks have disproportionate performance. This means that striping disks will give a higher performance, making the P40 and P50 disks expensive. Please increase performance for the disks.

                                      • PREMIUM type STORAGE ACCOUNT is not having replica but GENERALPURPOSE type STORAGE ACCOUNT is having.

Fact : The amount taken by Microsoft from customers is high for PREMIUM type STORAGE ACCOUNT when compared to GENERAL PURPOSE type STORAGE ACCOUNT.

GENERAL PURPOSE type STORAGE ACCOUNT is placed at dual locations ( replica available ).

PREMIUM type STORAGE ACCOUNT is placed only at one place ( No replica available ).

It is that you give MORE benefits for LESS charged & LESS benefits for HIGH charged things ( A foolish process ).
                                        or
How can you Guarantee that PREMIUM type STORAGE ACCOUNT never fails which is located at single location ?

                                        • Please fix standalone Azure Storage Explorer to not change DateTime fields

I'm using the standalone Azure Storage Explorer with a Table Storage database and when I double-click a row to see the fields and then click Update, Azure Storage Explorer changes the DateTime fields even though I didn't make any changes. It's adding 6 hours each time.

It's easy to reproduce: open a table with a DateTime field, double-click a row, don't change anything - just click Update. Then open the same row and you'll see the time has changed. Click update again. Open the row again - the time changed again (adding 6 hours each time)!
