  1. Provide scheduled backup capability for Azure Managed Disks

Please backup and copy OS disk only by schedule with portal (not AzCopy Command). I would like to back up OS disk only. Currently Azure image capture and back up service take snapshot and backup by VM unit. AzCopy makes it to copy OS disk only. For me, AzCopy takes much time. Please make it much easier, I mean operation from management portal would be much preferred.

    • Add support for HTTPS endpoints to Azure Storage Emulator

The Azure storage emulator doesn't support HTTPS endpoints. That means that when we develop locally under SSL, we either have mixed content warnings or get broken links.

"Note that the storage emulator supports connection via HTTP only. However, HTTPS is the recommended protocol for accessing resources in an Azure production storage account."

      • Provide an actual "read-only" role for Azure File Service

The reader role available in RBAC doesn't really do what you think it'd do when applied to Azure File Service. A user with this role can't even see the Azure File Service when browsing the storage account.

As I understand it this is by design as the reader role works on Azure objects and not on files and folders.

What I need is a method that prevents users from accidentally deleting files or folders by giving them read-only access to the actual files and folders. I don't need fine grained control over access to files and folders, just a straightforward…

          Thank you for this feedback!

We’re working on or have shipped several features that we think will satisfy this request.

First, we have shipped the share snapshot feature, which enables you to protect a point-in-time for a file share. If a user were to delete a file, you can restore from the previous snapshot. To make this easier, Azure Backup will soon support scheduling share snapshot.

Second, and more to the specific ask in the initial post, we are working on AAD authentication and authorization for Azure file shares. When we ship this feature, you will have the ability to set share ACLs that prevent deletes or modifications.

          Thanks,

        • Add NFS Protocol Support Azures Files Shares OR Support old CFS clients

Azure files shares are awesome. It basically provides a great PAAS NAS for a group of Azure VMs, I can't overstate how useful this feature is.

It's still in preview, but there is a significant problem that won't get added by the time it goes GA. The problem is that many Linux CIFS clients that come on standard builds won't support it. My example is that neither Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.4, nor 7.0 support it (using the Azure templates), even after installing the latest supported CIFS clients.

Since Azure Files shares are basically like NAS for Azure VM's, please realize…

          • Increase the number of attached Disks per Core

Please allow attaching more disks per core, or increase the max size of disk (1TB by default) without forcing upgrading the VM instance.
For my project I use A1 Standard VM instance and CPU/memory is sufficient for my project, but it needs more storage (up to 10TB).
I can't attach more disks without spending more on CPU/memory that my project doesn't require.
I think, we should be charged for capacities/storage we really use and not for what we're forced to use!
            Please support it!

            • Azure Files - Access/Size Limits

              Azure Files - Access/Size Limits

Please provide access to the Azure Files service from on-prem. users/devices over 2S2 VPN/ExpressRoute connection.

Also, 5TB size limit is a deal breaker for many organizations. They need to scale higher. Although a workaround would be to provision a different storage account when the size limit is hit.

              • Ability to manually initiate failover on Geo-Redundant storage accounts (GRS & RA-GRS)

GRS & RA-GRS storage accounts currently geo-replicate all contents from a primary zone's storage account (storageA) to a secondary zone's storage account (storageB) automatically and this is wonderful.

Right now, it is Microsoft that control when the failover occurs from storageA to storageB. It is also very well documented that this switch will happen only as a last resort move because of the complexity of switching all accounts, possible data loss, etc...

For advanced DR scenarios it would be very handy for us to have a way to manually trigger the failover switch between storageA and storageB.

                After the manual…

It is currently not possible to sort entries in the storage container. Always the last entry is shown first ans you must every time scroll down and click to Show the next page. It would be better to Show the last entry at first

                    • Changeable "last-modified" file property on Azure File Service

At the moment, our application stores its documents in a normal folder on a network share. The “Last Modification Time” of the files are important for internal version-handling, and our application heavily uses this file-property.

Now we decided to move our documents into the cloud and we started using Azure File Service Preview. When we upload the documents via REST API, the “Last-Modified” property of the uploaded files get the current-time – that’s reasonable.

But unfortunately afterwards the “Set File Properties” REST API call (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn166975.aspx) does not support the change of the “Last-Modified” property. (I tried both with…

Thanks for this feedback. Long term, we would like the File REST API for Azure Files to be a superset of the functionality available in SMB. In the short term, we are looking to close some of the gaps in the API that are most painful, like the file attributes that you can set via SMB but not File REST.

We would appreciate further feedback on this item, in particular feedback on the things that you can do today over SMB but not REST to help us prioritize the order in which we close the gap!

                        Thanks,

                      • Blob Storage :: Enable filtration in listing APIs

The Azure Blob Storage service is intended to be scalable, but the APIs do not enable filtration of results. The Azure Blob Storage service should enable filtration of container and blob listing at the service fabric layer.

                        • Map multiple CNAME records to Blob Storage

At present it's possible to only map a single CNAME record to blob storage. It would be useful to map multiple CNAME records.

There is a work-around if you don't mind spending the extra money though: Create an Azure CDN for the storage and then map multiple CNAME records to the CDN instead.

While I understand the support implications for restoring individual items to Exchange, there are competing products that offer this feature. While it still easy to restore a mailbox using DPM and some powershell - when using this with Azure Backup to restore an entire Exchange database to restore a single mailbox can be both time consuming and involve additional storage costs to be able to mount the restored DB as an availability database.

Could you please show the identity of the administrator who performed each action in the Audit Logs?

If I delete an Azure Storage container it only says "Successfully deleted storage container" with the date and time, but it doesn't record the name of the person who actually deleted it. In environments where there is more than one administrator we need to be able to identify who to blame if something goes wrong.

There is this, but not everybody wants to write their own secure log viewer: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/gg715318.aspx

                                • Storage to have readonly key for blobs

Allow for Storage to have Read only keys that can be used in client tools like Azure Storage explorer or Cloudberry for read only access.
Often times, a client tool needs to be given to customer to access files and it is not feasible to give the shared key which has full access.

Even better would be to allow for a "user" key to be generated with granular permissions on containers that can be set from Azure portal.

                                    • Add autonumber index with identity increment column like sql server and DocumentDB

Don't want to worry about index column like i do on the row key.
Please add column id with auto identity increment.

                                      • Import/Export Feature in Brazil. Without it is not practical to sell big workloads

We have several scenarios where customers have huge workloads and it's being impractial do upload those data to Azure using WAN Links

                                        • Status code returned by InsertOrReplace and InsertOrMerge should reflect if entity was inserted or replaced/merged

InsertOrReplace and InsertOrMerge return 204 on success but caller can't tell if entity was inserted or replaced/merged. It would be useful to know so caller can maintain accurate count of entities in the table.
