  1. Implement the generic TableOperation.Retrieve<T>() in WinRT library

Currently this methods is only supported in the full .NET 4.0 library. In WinRT version only TableOperation.Retrieve() exist. the Please consider to implement it too in the WinRT library.

    Thanks,

    • Storage tiering / Replication

      - Offer capability like SSD/Sata/Sas high perf, Low cost with automatic tiering, offer deduplication capability mean in the same Data center store 10 times the same file for the same price, the capability to use DPM for Backup , SCOM capability ...
Offer live replication in active /active Mode with GSLB like front end capability ..

But Azure is a very good product.

      • highlight how to disable Nagle's algorithm in your performance optimization MSDN articles

The MSDN article that describes Nagle's algorithm (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/hh697709.aspx) should highlight the performance gains from disabling Nagle's algorithm.

In our case, disabling that algorithm yielded an order of magnitude improvement in latency (from 300 to 30 ms). This is a vital piece of information that is not highlighted in performance optimization documentation for Azure.

It may even be worthwhile to consider disabling Nagle's algorithm by default, or provide some default configuration examples that remark on this algorithm.

        • Create storage account sharding infrastructure.

Create storage account sharding infrastructure. It's an enormous, error prone task to create this infrastructure by hand. This really needs to be baked into the infrastructure.

          • Increase storage account create calls per subscription limit

“RDFE throttles the storage account creation; the default throttling limit is 20 per subscription per hour "

Most of our automation creates storage account on the fly and they fails with following reasons

"The maximum number storage account creations calls allowed for a subscription in an hour has been exceeded. Please try again after some time."

            • Infinite TTL for Queue Messages

Currently messages in your Queue are discarded after 7 days. I'd like to have the option of messages living in my Queue until I get around to processing them no matter what..

              • Possibility to migrate a Storage Account to an Affinity Group

It would be very practical to be able to move or migrate a storage account into an affinifty group after it's creation.

                • Mark TableEntity as Serializable

There is no way to expose AzureTable data directly via WebAPI due to Serializable requirement. Unfortunately TableEntity class doesn't have that attribute and forces to create a duplicated class. Please mark TableEntity class as serializable.

                  • Rename blobs without needing to copy them

Copying blobs in order to rename them is a heavy operation, especially when the blob is big, or when you need to change many files, such as when changing a directory name.

Our apologies for not updating this ask earlier. Renaming Blobs is on our backlog, but is unlikely to be released in the coming year. Today, you can use the “Copy Blob” API as a workaround.

Using the Azure Files service you can address Azure Storage like a network share using the SMB2.1 protocol.  This enables usage of normal Windows API’s to rename files and directories.  You can get started with the Files service by visiting https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/storage-dotnet-how-to-use-files.

For any further questions, or to discuss your specific scenario, send us an email at azurestoragefeedback@microsoft.com.

Can you please provide more information about what you’d like to use this for in Windows Azure Storage?

                      • Improve exception messages

"An error occurred while processing this request."

That message doesn't say anything. A suggestion would be to append the inner exception message. It makes debugging a lot easier.

                        ----

"One of the request inputs is not valid"

That message doesn't say anything at all and I can't figure out why I get it. It's thrown on SaveChanges()

                        • Add a way to copy the contents of an entire storage account to another storage account

Say your application stores important data in an Azure Storage Account, perhaps spread across both Table and Blob containers.

It would be very handy to be able to copy the entire contents of a storage account to another storage account. So that you could duplicate your azure storage environment between your stage production environments easily, allowing you to test updates to your application on a copy of your live production data before actually deploying it to production.

I know that bits and pieces of this functionality exist already, via things like Copy Blobs and Blob Snapshots, but nothing built in…

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to get more feedback about this item before we prioritize. Is the ask here to replicate a storage account on-demand ? Or have a mechanism to always keep two or more storage accounts in sync ?

Meanwhile, to unblock some of our users we have published a sample that copies blobs from an account to another account: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/scripts/storage-common-transfer-between-storage-accounts?toc=%2fpowershell%2fmodule%2ftoc.json

                          • Add functionality to check for queue with no entries (including invisible entries)

When a queue becomes empty I want to kick off some processing. However queue empty does not equal complete empty as there might be invisible objects on the queue that might come back. Thus it is not truly empty.

Functionality to check a queue _really_ empty i.e. no objects invisible or visible would be very useful.

Currently what I'm using is "peekMessage" returning null but this returns null even if there are invisible objects on the queue

                            • HTTP compression support for Azure Storage Services (via Accept-Encoding/Content-Encoding fields)

Add support for 'Accept-Encoding' and 'Content-Encoding' fields in the HTTP request in Azure Storage Services with supported compression schemes gzip and deflate. This should helps reduce network payload by 10x-50x in some cases like saving/loading bulk records to Azure Table Storage.

                              • Diagnostics trace viewer in management portal

Right now if you need to see logs, you have to query azure table WADLogsTable. This is a bit wired. I think it will be good addition to the management portal if it will show this logs in more adequate way. If it will also support search it will be even more awesome.

                                • Support GZIP & DEFLATE Content-Encoding for List Blobs Responses

For collections with large numbers of blobs, the XML response payload easily approaches 100s of MBs. In our testing, each block of 5000 objects resulted in a ~2.8MB response. This is without any other flags set (i.e. no snapshots, no metadata, no uncommitted blobs). The response XML is highly compressible. In our testing we saw a 93% size reduction. (2.8MB -> 210KB). This would be a huge improvement in transfer performance, and a large cost savings in egress bandwidth situations.

                                  • Block deleting of Storage Accounts if Not Empty

If I am supposed to store Terra Bytes of data, in Management Portal easy delete option is very dangerous. Along with no way to retrieve deleted data. Even accidentally it does happen, today I created a test blob storage to test media services and then decided to delete it. I noticed, I could easily have selected something else and deleted it.

                                    1. Two Factor Delete Operation, send a code to email and ask user to enter the code to delete.
                                    2. Perform delete after actual 24 hours.
                                    2. Use some sort of warning indication in email that delete request is…

                                    • Allow control of storage account DefaultServiceVersion through Azure Panel for true HTTP/1.1

By default, when a new Storage Account is created, the DefaultServiceVersion property is set to 2009-09-19, which is really old. Many storage accounts created now don't need backwards compatibility with this very old version.
It would be very useful to allow control of DefaultServiceVersion through Azure control panel or better, when creating a new Storage Account (same way you can select Windows release when creating VM) so that one can select it to a more recent version and thus allow storage account to respond to HTTP/1.1 Range request.

                                      • Support $filter on merger, update.

Supporting $filter on merge and update would reduce the number of roundtrips when doing conditional mutation of an entity based on properties in addition to PK and RK.

                                        • Secure Azure Storage access using WAAD/ACS

I'd like to expose access to Azure storage resources directly to my tenants, but I need to use the same security mechanisms that my users use for accessing other parts of my system (e.g., web apps).
