  2. Allow rate throttling

I just tried to use AzCopy to import a storage table into CosmosDB. It immediately faulted with "request rate is too large" even I tried using /NC:1 It would be useful if there was a command line parameter to specify the maximum import rate to avoid this problem.

  3. Enable AzCopy to copy data from one Azure Files storage account to another

The current iteration of AzCopy (10.8.0) does not copy Azure Files data between storage accounts using a SAS token generated via the portal. The capability is described here, however, it does not function as described: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-use-azcopy-files#copy-files-between-storage-accounts

Using this process fails when you generate the source and target SAS tokens via the Azure Portal, or generate both tokens via PowerShell. The only way this works is when you generate the source token via Azure Portal, but generate the target token via PowerShell.

The only difference between a SAS token generated on the portal and one generated with PowerShell is the api…

  4. Make it possible to login azopy with service principal client id and secret only

Currently azopy requires an application to be able to access files. WHile it's understanble for blob storage, for network file shares it should be possible to login with client id and secret.

  5. add support for sync --cache-control

Right now we can easily sync a file system with azure blob storage but we cannot make it set appropriate cache control headers, the end result is that the stuff we just synced isn't invalidated by the browser and if we do it as separate storage transactions after the fact we will incur double the transaction costs.

It would be preferable if we could specify a cache control value when we sync and that the sync command sets the cache control header value to the desired value after sync.

    For example,

    .\azcopy.exe `
    sync `
    "apps" `
    "$(TESSIN_AUTHZ_STORAGE_URL)/apps$(TESSIN_AUTHZ_STORAGE_SAS)" `
    --recursive=true

  6. AzCopy should by default be part of apps in Powershell container in Cloudshell

When you have powershell scripts that uses AzCopy and you want to run them on cloud shell in your cloud drive, it would be great to have AzCopy available there.

Especially since the AzureRM.Netcore does not include all the storage commands on Linux and Mac.

And since AzCopy is not on mac yet, the cloudshell is needed for more complex management and movements of storage objects.

  7. azcopy sync to Azure Files

AzCopy already has the ability to sync local storage to blob storage.

It'd be really useful if it could also sync local storage to Azure Files Shares.

  8. BUG Report for AZCopy

I have renamed the PST files in my AZCopy directory (because I couldn't delete the uploaded files).
NOw, When I rerun AZCopy to upload a DIREXCTORY, it is STILL picking up on the OLD file names and saying it can't find the files.
    I'm only passing the directory in the commandline . . . .

I have a work around but it's a bug worth fixing.
N.B. I am pointing to a fast USB3.2 NVMe Drive.
    Call me if you wish.
    Thanks

  9. File share directory deletion failed

Actually what im trying to do is automate the file share deletion process through a azure pipeline. I have a file share named <>-share it has a directory named <> and inside that i have three directories named as tenants, user-stores, meta-servicee-store. What i need to achieve through my pipeline is delete these 3 folders. Since these 3 folders are non empty i cannot delete them simply. So I used

    ./azcopy rm 'https://<filesharename>.file.core.windows.net/<>-share/<>/tenants?SAN_TOKEN

command to do the deletion. In the tenants directory, I have over 3000 non empty subdirectories. After some time delete oparation fails saying file not…

  10. Linux friendly log format for AzCopy

Currently AzCopy utility does not output logs in Linux friendly format and I use dos2unix command to convert logs (e.g. dos2unix -c mac transfer.log).

This is not exactly working well especially when I want to check logs in real time (e.g. tail -f transfer.log).

    This suggestion is for AzCopy to either;

    • detect OS type and output logs accordingly

    OR;

    • add an option to support logging in Linux friendly format (e.g. --log-format=linux)

  11. Azcopy login only supports device code login, can azcopy support login with credential

A customer sets an AD conditional access rule to allow only Windows/IOS device type, when using "azcopy login" with device code, the login request will fail because the device code approach did not contain any device type info.
The customer raised a request to add feature in azcopy to login with credential. (Similar with Connect-AzAccount)

  12. Please support local <-> local source and destination for file sync

I love the AzCopy tool and use it frequently to sync files between Windows 10 and Blob storage. Recently I wanted to sync a folder of files on Windows 10 to my external storage and discovered AzCopy does not support local to local copy. Is that by design?

  13. MD5 checks also on uploads, not only on downloads

Maybe I am overly cautions, but I would like to have azcopy also check the MD5 hashes on upload, not only on download.

I refer to the documentation here, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-use-azcopy-files#upload-files where they talk about MD5 only for download.

It would give me peace of mind if

    • prior to upload, the local file's MD5 hash is calculated
    • the file is uploaded
    • the MD5 hash on the server is calculated
    • the upload fails if the hashes are not equal

And, why not use SHA256 instead of MD5?

  14. Severe Memory Leak on MacOS

AZCopy mode on Azure Storage Explorer on MacOS has one or more severe memory leaks. AZcopy mode on resulted in 209 GB RAM/Swap usage for me after uploading blobs for an hour or so.

  15. Azcopy support piping

    Here is my scenario

    Invoke-sqlcmd -query "Select * from master.sys.table" -ServerInstance myserver -database -mydb | convert-csv | select -skip 2 | .\7z.exe a -si tgzip $gzipedfilename

Now I am taking that $gzipedfilename and uploading to blob storage using azcopy. This is causing huge disk I/O and queue when I am running above script in multiple threads. I am trying pipe Azcopy on the output of above script by doing

    | .\7z.exe a -si tgzip -so | Azcopy -----

but I don't know if Azcopy supports piping and how. Can someone help? Or s there any other way to accomplish this…

  16. Sign the macOS version of AzCopy

On macOS Catalina and later, AzCopy cannot be used. The message is:

“azcopy” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.

The version of AzCopy was azcopydarwinamd64_10.9.0
