  1. Update azcopy packages for ubuntu bionic 18.04

    It might be in progress, but I figured I'd mention in case it's forgotten. Can you guys update the ubuntu bionic packages with azcopy:

  2. AzCopy should support filtering of table entities

    Just like a Pattern parameter for copying blobs, there should be a similar parameter for copying table entities.

    It should be possible to filter both on partition and and row keys.

    I personally find it quite seldom that I need to copy entire table.

  3. Viewing status of a pending AzCopy operation

    If you're copying a large blob between two containers it would be nice to see how far along it is and how much longer it will take. I understand that it's asynchronous by default and there's no guarantee of speed so you may not be able to give an estimate of remaining time very easily, but giving a percentage progress value
    or X out of Y MB transferred would still be useful to see from the output by the executable, or in Azure Activity Logs. I recently had to copy a 500GB vhd between storage accounts and it took 6…

  5. Suggest adding a source data timestamp parameter to set as the copy point in time for AzCopy operations.

    Adding a /SourceDataTimeStamp parameter would allow for the ability to only copy data that is at that timestamp or earlier from the source data to the destination. For example, I have many tables and blobs that tie to each other. When I back them all up in a live hosted system, it would be great to say "AzCopy, copy all table and blob data from 2017.09.02 and earlier to another location". This would ensure that if I later restored from that time point, all the data would be be linked up properly.

  6. Distribute AzCopy for Linux compiled for ARM processors

    Currently AzCopy for Linux is only distributed for x64 processors. Since one of the obvious applications of AzCopy is backups, it would be useful to have a version which runs on ARM processors, so that it can be set up as a cronjob directly on an ARM-based NAS.

  8. AzCopy /SetContentType should also tag *.json

    Currently, AzCopy tag .js and .css (and a few more) with an empty /SetContentType. It should also tag *.json as application/json.

  9. Change or Limit the amount of local hard drive space AZcopy uses for local storage

    When doing Azure blob and file moves\copies, AZcopy by uses the C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Temp\TfsStore\Tfs_DAV directory to temporarily store files. However, it is filling up the directory and causing issues.

    I would like to see a feature that would allow me to change the location or limit the amount of space AZcopy is allowed to use locally.

    This could also be a way to limit the size of files that are uploaded. If you specify to use 5 GB, AzCopy won't be able to upload a 10 GB file which you may not want to migrate files that big.

  11. Improve Perfromance when /xo is used as it takes longer time when there are more source folders.

    Add more filters with AzCopy such as Date filters,etc. so that it will help in improving the performance when /xo is used. As currently it needs to scan through all the source files and in case more filters are added the time to use source files would be reduce.

  12. Does AzCopy work on AIX ? If not, is there a plan to provide compatibility to AIX ?

    We understand that AZCopy is available on Linux and Windows. We did installed and executed AzCopy successfully on our Azure cloud Linux VM and were able to transfer data.

    We wanted to understand if AzCopy utility is available for install and/or execution on an AIX server ? We have our on prem application server as AIX and wanted to explore the possibility of leveraging AZCopy for bulk data transfer. Otherwise, we might have to end up transferring all data from AIX to another linux or windows machine from which we can execute AZCopy. But this defeats our purpose in doing…

  13. AzCopy10 should support moving from Azure BLOB to Azure File Storage

    With AzCopy 8, you can copy from Azure Blob Storage to Azure File Storage. AzCopy 10 does not support this. Please make this available as we had our disks sent to Microsoft and ingested all of our data into BLOB storage but we want to move certain things to File Storage. AzCopy8 works, but I'm sure AzCopy10 could do it much faster.

  14. Azcopy supports creating snapshots instead overwriting data

    When you sync/copy data to a Blob Storage, it would be interesting creating snapshots of existing Blob that is going to be updated because new file/blob exists in source.

    Example:

    Sync1:

    Storage -----> BlobStorage
    file1 -----> file1

    Sync2, somebody updates file1 in source:

    file1 -------> file1 (generate file1 snapshot with sync1 version)

    Kind regards,

  16. AzCopy V10 - Add flag to switch off writing to on-prem event log

    Copy large files from an on prem server to azure blob storage, there are thousands of warning message appearing in the event log of the server.

    Please supply a flag so we can switch off the logging of messages to the event log. A large file copy can generate so many of these messages that it flushes out the log. The messages can anyway be captured to txt output in the command so it's a duplication.

  17. Allow AzCopy support Socks proxy

    Today AzCopy can use an HTTPS proxy, which is good but not enough.

    In big companies, you can have 1 https proxy for the whole company, but several expressRoutes for each teams/entity. For example you can have a dedicated expressRoute to feed/consume ADLSGen2 and another for the other needs.

    In this case, there is no easy way to select the expressroute you want/need to use. Hence, an easy way is to deploy Socks proxies.

    But AzCopy does not allow passing a socks proxy as parameter.

  18. Default options for AZCopy

    Please, make --preserve-owner --preserve-smb-info --preserve-smb-permissions default options. Running copy command with default option currently locks out users (and administrators) from accessing files on file shares.

  19. add support for sync --cache-control

    Right now we can easily sync a file system with azure blob storage but we cannot make it set appropriate cache control headers, the end result is that the stuff we just synced isn't invalidated by the browser and if we do it as separate storage transactions after the fact we will incur double the transaction costs.

    It would be preferable if we could specify a cache control value when we sync and that the sync command sets the cache control header value to the desired value after sync.

    For example,

    .\azcopy.exe `

    sync `
    "apps" `
    "$(TESSIN_AUTHZ_STORAGE_URL)/apps$(TESSIN_AUTHZ_STORAGE_SAS)" `
    --recursive=true

  20. Make it possible to login azopy with service principal client id and secret only

    Currently azopy requires an application to be able to access files. WHile it's understanble for blob storage, for network file shares it should be possible to login with client id and secret.
